haha funny like you use my own comments , you are a joke... foreman was a different case, he was a very big framed guy drained at 217, but he weighed 226- 229 in the amateurs at 18. liston was clearly overweight and ponderous at 218, you have on boxrec his weights... by the way.. i amwaiting for your proofs where you say that liston stopped foreman and tyson said that liston would beat him.. you are a liar... simple like that
Nobody stops Liston if he is prime and motivated. Several have am outside chance of running and outpointing him, but odds are they are run over by the night train.
Who would beat Liston?...anyone with heart...he could be out gutted...GREAT fighters don't quit while sitting on a stool...and giving up their title...Sonny is extremely over rated on this site!!!
My background in endurance sports has taught me a lot about the psychology of quitting. One thing to understand is that thinking you cant win, is a lot more demoralising than getting the cr4p beaten out of you. Enduring lots of physical pain if it is all going somewhere, is easy. The other thing to get your head around, is that a person has a finite window of mental toughness, in exactly the same way that they have a finite physical prime. Heart is fueld by hunger, and once the hunger starts to fade, it takes the heart with it. That is why so many fighters have been brave at their peak, but willing to quit outside it.
If Liston is prime today, training with modern technique and nutrition he would be %110 of his prime form as we know him. I would love to have him challenging todays Heavyweights, they would be shitting themselves. If it would be possible to clone one of the Greats DNA, its Liston your taking 10/10 times.
Liston was a great fighter, but far from invincible. I couldn't imagine him being competitive with guys as big and talented as Lennox and Vitali. Chris Byrd would slap the **** out of him. Liston 6'1 212 vs Vitali 6'7.5 245. Sonny would be completely outclassed landing very few punches. Vitali with his busy workrate would be landing 3 and 4 punch combinations, banking away rounds, Liston breaks down by round 9.
Only in fantasy land. Listons 84 inch reach and sledgehammer jab would be a huge asset against todays superheavies.
Basically i don't like this prime thing because Tyson's carrier didn't stop after his prime era.:happy Sometimes the modern Tyson was bigger. For example he was 239.75 lbs and pure muscle against the tall 259.75 Nielsen. Nielsen had a long carrier and he has a great chin. But Tyson was the most effective against Nielsen. You said well Tyson was about 216-221 pounds in his prime but this doesn't mean he couldn't fight with bigger weight. (He couldn't fight well when his stamina was crap.) I think Tyson was 215-221 pounds in his prime because his punching power wasn't questionable but with this weight he could move faster. This was much more spectacular than a slower Tyson. "Lipton" is another case. For example "Lipton" also had 206 pounds weight. Or in 1956-03-06 a 203 pounds Sonny" Lipton" fought the 179 lbs monster Marshall.I think unfortunately "Lipton" couldn't knock this 179 lbs monster out. In 1958 "Lipton" was gigantic because he was 204 lbs against the 199 pounds Mederos. The amazing "Lipton's" last fight was in 1970 he was 219 pounds. The 199 lbs Leotis Martin could knock the 219.5 lbs Liston out. But the fast twitch muscle fiber mass is much more important factor. The power and speed are based on this factor(weighlifters, sprinters) Well, Liston was slow as hell.Tyson was fast. "Lipton" was too powerful for 180-200 pounds chickens or other lame fighters. But Tyson was too powerful for the 6'2"-6'3" 247 pounds ripped, skilled muscular Bruno. That's the difference. All in all "Lipton" was the king of the the chickens. Basically you were correct.:happy
Basically any credibility your post MIGHT have had went out the window with those 2 words. Even Bruno's trainers didn't refer to him as " skilled "
Larry Holmes Muhammad Ali Joe Louis Are the only guys who deserve to start favourite. The guys who I give a 50-50 chance against Sonny are Lennox Lewis Vitali Klitchko Ezzard Charles Evander Holyfeild Jersey Joe Walcott And these guys are my wild card underdogs that I would bet on against Sonny. all stand an excelent chance of an upset.
