Well done! The numbers surpassed my expectations. Roc Nation needed this to be a success to compensate for the early losses they've taken in building their brand, and they got it.

That's also a very healthy bounce back from so many casuals feeling ripped off by May-Pac. :thumbsup

How much do roc nation pocket though? Cotto got 15 million, Canelo got a lot, golden boy get paid too , and I'm sure hbo take a large chunk of the ppv.

True. This is an early estimate based off of one of his inside sources, but it's not an official number yet.

Mr. Andre Ward in the crowd is responsible for at least half of those.

Not bad numbers, and except for the Rigondull bout it was a pretty watchable card as well.

Rough numbers here. The event was not a "home run", but it's a healthy number, and for Roc, it's probably their first profit (even if they were hoping for more):

    $65 average price (assuming 50% bought regular definition at $60 and 50% at the $70 HD price) x 900k = $58.5 million

50% of that gets taken off the top from the cable companies: 58.5 x 50%= 29.25 million.

Subtract $20 million for guaranteed purses: 29.25 - 20= $9.25 million to be split between GBP and Roc.

It's easy to forget Canelo took a 25% split to make this fight happen: $5 million guaranteed to Cotto's $15. Other fighters could take a note of this.

There is also any back end residuals based on sales owed to the fighters, which I don't know the details of other than that Canelo has something lined up with TV Azteca. There's also the cost of promotion to take into account, along with other revenue streams- foreign rights, gate sales, sponsorships, etc.

Happy I could contribute. Hopefully they cross the 1 mill mark and breakeven. It shows that the PPV model isn't as dead as previously thought, and that there is some real healing happening following the May/Pac dud. Hopefully, the Canelo/Cotto fight didn't disappoint casuals and furthers the healing even more.

    Agreed.

In the end, it will be slim enough that funding a Ward fight instead would've been a material difference to their bottom line.

I'd say this gain doesn't even fund the massive loss they had for ward vs smith
