were they? Oscar beat the likes of Chuvalo, Martin, Lewis, Peralta Middleton at near their peaks as well as the Frazier, Ali, Patterson contests while Gregorio mixed it well with Foreman, Bonavena and Lyle and beat the likes of Urtain, Mina Pastrano and others. A bit forgotten now as we chat about Cleveland Williams, Shavers, Morrison, Mercer etc
I think Peralta was a very fine fighter, powerful, durable and crafty but from what I recall seeing of him, he was largely one-handed in his attack. Bonavena was a stocky powerful man who got where he was from being awkward as hell and just tough, imo. Only Ali stopped him and he could really take it to you. Ali said post-fight that Oscar hit him about as hard as any man can hit, I seem to remember.
I have their bout on film. Peralta looks awkward as hell, nice boxer though. Bonavena wins it just too fresh and aggresive if I remember right.
