Ankalaev wins the UD. Damn, did not expect that single wide card. Fans are not happy with this decision.
I’m fine it that decision. He was the better fighter. These caucuses boys are damn hard to beat, just so well rounded in all facets. But man can they be boring.
could be that or Alex never swarms unless he has them hurt. His cage reversals are what caused him to lose, he's clueless on how to break from the cage and return to neutral
I favoured Ankalaev to win this and I felt more confident of that as he was making his ring walk. That being said, I thought he was going to catch Poatan and knock him out in the first 3 rounds and the thought of him winning on points never crossed my mind.
boring fight. you guys better not switch your poll picks. Boxing forum so id expect most to favor the striker.
The right bloke certainly won, I thought he beat the **** out of him and only the bell saved him in the early rd…… got boring 4 and 5tds
Ank is really not a heavy hitter, i stated this earlier. His two ko wins in lhw are Johnny Walker and Anthony Smith who are super chinny.
Fight went exactly how I thought it would and I hated every minute of it. I like Alex but hes exactly who I thought he was and thats an imposing glass cannon. This one of the first opponents that isnt one of the following... - coming off a severe injury and layoff - doesnt have a glass chin - is actually his size - isnt 40 years old - has defence And he gets borderline dominated. Alex's legacy were stars aligning just right to string together a run that looks great on paper but in reality wasnt what it seemed imo. I was hoping I was wrong and that he would pull the win out tonight but at least he didnt get ko'd. Not sure exactly whats best for his next move but hoping for his succesful return after a nice layoff.
I think he can crack pretty hard and that he's a very underrated striker. I've been very impressed with him since the first time I saw him fight and thought he was the one to keep an eye on. But as said, even though I favoured him I didn't envisage it playing out like that
maybe he does, but his style is to be a sniper and sit in the pocket waiting for openings, but it just didn't arrive.
A points win or winning via utilizing his wrestling made more sense but I just had a feeling he was going to catch Poatan and knock him out. My gut feeling was right but I was completely wrong about the method of victory.
