Dont know much about Mares but Perez can fight as it was shown in his fights with Mabuza and Agbeko,it will take a very good fighter to beat him.
Really interesting fight. Perez impressed me a lot by beating Mabuza (who I rate highly), so I didn't think him beating Agbeko was the upset most people did. Mares hasn't faced anyone as good as Perez, Mabuza or Agbeko but he has looked like a well-rounded, skilled fighter every time I've seen him. This is a nice step up for him and will tell us wether he's as good as the hype suggests. It's a nice clash of styles - and I'm not really sure who wins. If I had to choose now, I'd go with Perez. He's going to pressure Mares and take him into deep waters. I'm just not sure if Mares has what it takes to get through the last few rounds, which I think will be the toughest of his career. The fact that this is on the undercard to Rafa-Izzy IV means we should have a great night of boxing to look forward to.
Hmmm if Mares passes this test then he is ready for the elite around his weight. Very tough test. This is the type of fight that will either put an L on his record or takes him to the next level. Props for taking this fight.
i was hoping king kong would get a rematch but hey, cant complain about this fight.... hope perez can keep his momentum until kong can beat him in a rematch, but one things for sure i wont be missing this fight! cant wait man thanks for the news.
i think mares might be too green, like others have said on here. perez might be too much. i think the scarier thing about him is that he can fight extremely good going backwards as well as forward.
