"After a close first round of high energy and a ton of action -- basically picking up where the first fight left off minus the knockdowns each man produced in the opening round last time -- Martinez, who earned a career-high payday of $1.05 million (considerably less than Williams' undisclosed purse), turned out the lights in nasty fashion"

I think Williams made about $1.6M

a lot of people would say this is a terrible fight for Williams, but he will be a little gunshy in this fight and with his reach, it will give him a chance to use that reach of 82 inches and get some discipline. It is hard for taller fighters to sometimes use that reach since they can land sometimes at will, but they will be countered also.

If Pavlik still trains and isnt just drinking his talents away, he definetly stops Williams... I have said it in the past as well..

Williams is not a Middleweight , he has ZERO defense.. His power wouldn't bother Pavlik.

Pavlik destroys guys with bad footwork and no defense, especially guys who are willing to trade. Williams gets beat up.

No, because Williams should be fighting 154lbers, not guys who are big middleweights. And right now, I dont see how fighting Pavlik is helpful in anyway to Williams.

He needs to come back against a mid level guy first, get a W under him, then start knocking on the doors of Cintron, Angulo, Kirkland, ect.

There are plenty of fights out there for him, and winnable ones at that, without him having to fight middleweights.

I thought the same at first but where would the winner go? The likely scenario would be the winner calling out Martinez who would probably manhandle either guy again.

I'd rather see Mosley-Williams at 54. The winner could still potentially land a marquee fight against Cotto, Margs, or JCCJ down the road.

I hope Martinez gets bigger purses in the future. He's old and doesn't have too much time left in the game.

    Pavlik will just cancel.

My first thoughts of Williams were a) move down to 154 or b) Kelly Pavlik.

Pavlik would KO Williams very early. He has way more power than Martinez. Williams the most overrated fighter since Mike Tyson.
