Pernell "sweet pea" Whitaker Vs Ricky Burns

Discussion in 'World Boxing Forum' started by WelcomePaladin2, Nov 9, 2015.

  1. At lightweight. Who wins in this fantasy match up.

Very impressed with the boy burns after dispatching King the other night.

I don't think he would be able to land at will against the defensive wizardry of Pernell Whittaker. Pernell wins the majority of the first 8 rounds before Mr Burns work rate in the championship rounds catches the eye of the Vegas judges.

As a result, the match most likely ends in a draw, with a lucrative rematch at stake. However, a SD on either side is possible.

  2. Thoughts? I think Burns takes him into deep waters with his heart & work rate, the likes of which Sweet Pea has never seen before. Don't get me wrong. Sweet pea is the better boxer but sometimes that's not enough.

    Thoughts.

In case you were wondering, Paladin2, these trolling threads by you are not remotely funny. Get another hobby.

  5. It's WelcomePaladin2 to you sir.

If you think I'm trolling by saying burns gives Sweet Pea hell then that's ok.

Don't worry. Some guys here for nuts whenever you pick a present over a past fighter. I think burns troubles him well.

Whitaker plunges in face first Rios style, trying to impose his power to Burns yet gets out-hustled by the slicker Burns.

  9. Good responses lads. Was expecting more to go for Sweet Pea though

Pea was a terrific lightweight with underrated power. Everyone obviously knows how elite his technical and defensive abilities were. I'd favor pea by a shutout decision or late stoppage.

Ricky outclasses pea and stops him late similar to what Tito did except burns finishes the job.
