Do you consider Whitaker as a defense-first type of fighter or an offensive fighter with great defense?

Hes defense def stands out as his game, but he was well rounded all over with great offense. But i considet him a defensive fighter first n foremost. if he didnt have that great d he wouldn't have been as great as he is obviously

Impossibly well-rounded. He didn't even need power. His D obviously stands out due to how flashy it was.

'Defensive fighter with great offense' is clearly the most apt description. :bart

defensive doesn't necessarily mean great defense....:think Take Wlad Klitschko for example, well you can say he has good defense I guess

I think being a great defensive boxer is about more than making the other guy miss. It's about making the other guy miss and pay for missing. Pernell Whitaker was a master at doing just that. No mater what you call him.
