That's true of JCC's qualities, but I am talking about Pac's offense. Pac also has better footwork and footspeed than JCC which compensates for his inadeqacies in cutting off the ring. The Mosley fight is not a great example because of his cramped legs. The Cotto fight post 6th round is a better example of Pac trying to chase down a retreating opponent. Still bloodied Cotto up and stopped him even though Cotto was doing a Shane Mosley. Pernell's feather fists and low KO % will do nothing to back Pac up. Mosley and Coto best shots did nothing to back up Pac. Only Margarito and his 17 pound weight advantage was able to back up Pac recently with his punches even if it was for a few seconds. :deal

Do you think Pernell has enough power to back JCC off

when I saw the title I thought, yeah Pernell might be able to beat Pac easy in his prime. But when I see him say Judah could beat Pac I know it is just a ploy to get Judah a fight. Pac is too busy and hits his opponents too much for Judah to be able to handle his punching output. Pac would stop Judah in about 7 or 8 rounds. Judah is good, but against Pac he would be in with a great. Judah could possibly beat JMM, but not Pac.

 Forgive the soundtrack doesn't cut it; you should have instructed everyone to mute it straight away.

Good vid, though - and links to this other fine platter:

Damn. It would have been awesome to have been around during Pea's prime (around as in, not an ignorant little kid and actually able to appreciate his career unfolding before my eyes).

That man toys with Pacquiao, Mayweather and all known contemporaries (I say known because for all we know the 2nd coming of SRR is just debuting and coming up the ranks right now).

Zab Judah is not a worthy pupil. Even if Pea was as good a trainer as he was a fighter...you can't polish a turd.

Cotto does have a tendency to aim low when in trouble. Watch the Chop Chop Corley fight as well. Cotto is my boy but he doesn't do a great job of hiding those low blows :bart

pea lost to forward fighters like chavez and oscar, he would probably do his fancy dodge and make pac look silly. however, at the end of the day pac wins. Mayweather beats pea easier then pac would if pea decide to play the counter game.

one of my favourite videos, I really respect pernell whitaker but I think he is wrong as well. Zab judah acted like a poor mans whitaker with no offense vs mabuza and was lucky that he has one punch ko power at 140. I had him losing the fight because he wasnt throwing back enough. Him vs pac would be bad, pac would walk him down. Zab judah vs khan is a fight I would like to see, zabs power and defense would make this one interesting.

Pernell never needed power to back Chavez off of him. He beat him by circling and jabbing, choosing when to let his hands go, clinching when needed, and just thoroughly outboxing him. That was one of the finest displays of how to use a jab I ever seen. Chavez got tired of chasing Pea, who was boxing off his backfoot excellently.

Just watched it again on YouTube. Thanks for the inspiration.

And yes, JCC is a better fighter than Manny Pacquiao. Pea would have made him look worse than Chavez. Too many countering opportunities.

pea dominated chavez, and the oscar fight was very close, I thought oscar edged it but it was as close as marquez vs pac.
the first guy to clearly beat pea was tito trinidad.

Easy might be an overstatement but he would have beaten him.

Style wise, he's all wrong for Pac. He'd make Pac look silly for much of the fight.

Yea...that was a sad day. I was surprised he made it to the final bell with his broken jaw. He still showed flashes of old self that fight as far as footwork and defense go.

Trinidad's father gave him a little slap in the face after the 5th round ended, like he was telling him to get Pea out of there. Then he says..."He's dead, but don't take any risks..." lol
