I'd pick Floyd to win but Pernell may have the edge in defense.

Floyd. More power, similar speed at the weight. Close fight but PBF with the more telling punches impress the judges better.

i think this thread is a contradiction , as neither are in their prime a 147 , if this was based on 135 it would be very very close , would just edge towards Mayweather.

Mayweather was still raw at 135. I'd take Whitaker.

mayweather way more acuurate puncher, better counter puncher maybee a little more power

sweetP better feet, better defense by just a bit, higher workrate

    both excellent chins

flyod a bit more intelligent and SP a bit gamer

    toss up fight

Sweetpea in a clear decision, though keep it out of Vegas because we know how Pernell has been screwed when he fights in the other guy's hometown.

Judging from the comments posted so far, if this were in Classic there'd already be blood splattered all over the walls.

mayweather. my reason.... a good offense is better than a good deffense.

although pernell was very fast with his latteral movement floyd would still catch him with those pot shots and stay on the back foot pot shoting. neight fighter is gona win by knockout but floyds offense is better than pernells offense becuse he is the faster out of the two.

hus deffense is better. pernells is better easily. it looks fancy and is more effective as he makes you miss completely whilst floyd sometyms takes punches on the gloves but some judges give credit to the opponent for aggression.

so floyd wins a decision in a boring fight

floyd accuses whitaker of taking steroids and makes him take a blood test in between the 2nd and 3rd rounds, then makes him do the SATs after the 4th round. then whitaker outboxes him for a UD

Yeah well, people really need to rewatch their classic this time.

Prime Oscar got embarrassed big time against a past-prime Sweet Pea, many people even think the fight should have gone in Pea's favor. Years later, an old Oscar gave hell to a prime Mayweather, taking the number one P4P to a split decision...
I know styles make fights, but in this case Mayweather just wouldn't figure a way out to win against a versatile defensive wizard like Whitaker. I personally think Pernell is the best defensive fighter ever with Locche second and then Mayweather.

Whitaker was the better defensive fighter, I.M.O., but not by far. Who wins at 147lbs.? I don't know.
