Whitaker was very fast, he was just toying with Ramirez in that particular fight. If you want a better example of his speed, watch this highlight. His speed was a slicker kind, not as much built around explosiveness as guys like Meldrick Taylor, Camacho, Jones, etc, but built more on timing, reflexes, etc.

This fight isn't going to be about hitting hard. Neither fighter would be able to stop, or even seriously deter, the other at 135.

That pretty much brickwalls any counter debate.

No one is unbeatable. Even if another fighter can't beat you, the judges can. See Whitaker vs. Ramirez I for a prime example of this.

No kidding, i'm getting into it with an old timer who does not believe supplements make you a better athlete in the physical sense, on the training forum:-(

Whitaker would only be challenged by very few fighters in the HISTORY of boxing from 135-147.

I am not a huge fan of his but come on, give credit where it's due.

This would have been a phenomenal fight. I would never count out Camacho and he truley is underrated. But if I had to lean towards a fighter it would just have to be Whitaker, just too much consistency and just a solid solid solid boxer all the way around. Camacho was whole lot of flash but sometimes all that flash can really get nullified by fundamental boxing techniques.

Clearly him, Duran, and Robinson in thier primes came the closest.

    This is not debatable imho.

BTW I think the poll should be "Camacho just too fast too furious" And "Sweat Pea always wins"

lol... I think that suits it better.

There Are Just Some Of Those Guys That When They Were On The Top Of Their Game Nothing Around Was Better ... Usually These Guys Took Them Selves Out Too ... They Were Their Toughest Opponent And Usually Lost.

Whitaker was just EXTREMELY technical with alien like defensive skills. He didn't have much explosiveness to his game. Thats the difference here, Speed or the speed that everyone here thinks is explosive speed and thats where Camacho obviously has him on.

A lot of boxers down the years would give a prime Duran serious problems at lightweight.
