This one's been puzzling me. We know what Whitaker's all about - ATG (possible GOAT) jab, ATG (possible GOAT) defensive wizard, ATG technician, ATG athletic gifts, ATG punch output, super-accurate, fast, dazzling punch variety, movement, versatility, chin, toughness, stamina. But then Peralta was a 40s Lightweight, with all the authority and skills that brings, and once even stepped into the ring with the great Bob Montgomery.

My pick is Peralta by mid rounds KO. What about you?

You are trying to be cute!! But ! see through your charade...Leave comedy and satire to the professionals, they have no agenda, just humor-
Someone that's been around the block.....

PowerPuncher, this itrysmarti cannot put a debate to rest...So nhe starts a new thread by injecting a journeyman fighter of the 1940s, Joey Peralta
as an opponent for Pernell Whitaker to ludiccrously inply I regard any fighter of the 1940s as superior to Pernell...A total LIE and he should be ashamed of himself...I put this subject to rest, and want no part of being wrongfully ridiculed, because I happen to believe that Ike Williams would of licked Pernell Whitaker...

And Ray Robinson, and Kid Gavilan ,and Henry Armstrong, all who I've seen live...
This does'nt detract from Pernell Whitaker at all....

Picking Bob Montgomery over Pernell Whitaker doesn't detract from him in any way?

In case you dont know...Bob Montgomery was a great lightweight champion who licked Beau Jack, Ike Williams, Fritzie Zivic...I saw Montgomery, fight Ike Williams and Beau Jack at MSG during the war years, and the "Bobcat"was a great body puncher and all around fighter...
These three lightweights were regarded as the best lightweight TRIO,fighting as the same time...Very little to choose between them as great lightweight champions...They fought every 2 to 4 weeks apart and
developed great skills that come with fighting often those days,as with the daddy of them all , Sugar Ray Robinson....
