No, people say you're stupid if you pick Pacquiao and don't explain how or why you think he would get the win. If the poll was public, Pac would have less than half the votes he has right now, as now his fans can easily vote for him without having to explain why they pick him.

Common sense would be to pick Pea by decision but I wouldn't be surprised to see Pac take this one. Pac will not just stand in front of Pea and throw punches he will be darting in and out and throwing combinations with more speed than Pernell has ever seen and from angles he has never seen. Pea trying to avoid Pac's punches with his upper body movement will get caught much more often than he's used to. Pac moving up from the lighter divisions would help him deal with Pernell's speed because these smaller fighters are very fast. With Pac's amazing offensive arsenal, his speed and his footwork, this fight is almost a toss up.

 

Mayweather is going to get the same rude awakening if he thinks he can shoulder roll his way to a decision. If you dont get manny respect early (see marquez rematch) you dont have a shot at beating pacquiao. I'd still pick pea by razor thin decision because he has one of the best defences ever seen in a ring and it has been tested by some of the best fighters. As steward would say 'its a toss-up'.

 

I noticed that you COMPLETELY ignore Sweet Pea's offense, as if he doesnt throw any punches, and worse, as if Pac had a good defense.

 

I didn't ignore Sweet pea's offense but I went through the thread and this fight has been analyzed from Pea's perspective multiple times already. I think that Pea's jab would throw Pacquiao off alot because although the orthodox jab has never troubled him, a great southpaw jab surely would. However i think that Pea would have trouble following up on his jab because Pacquiao moves backwards so quickly when troubles and Pernell is not one to close the gap on his opponents.

Pea would put on a clinic and win by shutout. Manny has never faced a defensive counter-puncher before. He would have Manny so confused he wouldn't know what to do.

Whitaker would not lose a round against Pac. Pac could catch Pea with a quick, leaping shot and maybe score a flash KD when Pea was off-balance, and Pac has the speed and firepower to give Pea some uncomfortable moments, but these moments would be few and fleeting. Pea is simply too accomplished in every way for this to be close. His jab and movement would be the difference. One-sided.

 

yea. pernell has a better resume in terms of opponents. but the question is did he beat them all? manny beat all of the name fighters above.
