You are crazy. Floyd is technically superior, more fundamentally sound, has the ability to stand in the pocket and lay on the ropes, has a WAY bigger punch. Y'all are lying to yourselves.
you're right about floyd being able to stand in the pocket and the ropes but how much of sweet pea have you seen?
This has been done before but I always say that Mayweather is like a new and improved version of Pernell with a bigger punch.
Thread comes up multiple times, there should be something crazy and new added to this match-up, like Whitaker can only weigh-in at 138.5 lbs. and Mayweather is allowed to weigh-in at the WW limit
I HAVE EVERY SINGLE PERNELL WHITAKER FIGHT ON DVD. I have seen 'em all from Farrain Comeaux to Bojoduez and everyone inbetween.
How is it embarassing? Because it differs from your opinion?:think Because if thats the case, what you have been saying is laughable. Why don't you try putting some substance in your posts?:?
When do you NOT pick mayweather? Name a man in history who would beat him 9 out of 10 times. Name 1 boxer.
Floyd's style will not work well against a superb defensive counterpuncher like Whitaker. Watch the early rounds of Floyd-Judah where Judah plays the counter punching role. Floyd tried to sneak in punches first and gets counterpunched silly many times.
I honestly don't think there is a boxer in history, within Floyd's weight range, who would have beaten him 90% of the time. Guys like Ray Robinson, Ray Leonard, and Tommy Hearns are definitely guys who COULD beat him. I just don't think they would.
I was never a humongous fan of either fighter but of the two I would say Floyd. Floyd relies more on his boxing and Whitaker a tad more on his reflexes. In this fight I think the fighter with the tighter structure wins. If this is a welter fight Floyd for sure. If this is 130-135 I still say Floyd but it would be a close fight against the speed and southpaw style. I think the southpaw to beat Floyd would be one with a serious pop, not Pernell, more like Manny. Anyway, Floyd wins this on his tighter boxing foundation.
