Former Olympic and pro stablemates, a fight between the 2 was never really spoken about seriously but what would have happened had they met in their primes?

I think they were close friends so this fight never would have happened...

If it did come together Taylor would have been spanked, Whitaker was just to crafty, and slick to lose to Mel...

I don't see anyone getting stopped here..

Think Pernell Whitaker vs Azumah Nelson(decisive 12-round decision for Whitaker) & also think Howard Davis Jr. vs Meldrick Taylor(10-round split draw) in which Davis' jab, lateral movement and sheer boxing technique exploited some major flaws as to how Taylor does against sheer boxers even though it was still in Meldrick's early pro career stage. Add that up and you pretty much get a sharp decisive 12-round unanimous decision for "Sweet Pea" Whitaker.

However by the same token given that they were such good and close friends outside of the ring this fight just about has no possibilty in happening.
Think: Hector "Macho" Camacho vs Juan LaPorte
    Jake Lamatta vs Rocky Graziano
"Smokin" Joe Frazier vs Ken Norton

Pernell wouldn't give Meldrick a chance to stay in close where Taylor would have an upper hand and from the outside speed alone wouldn't beat Pea. Meldrick had great physical ability at his best but wasn't in Pernell's league skill wise. A clear decision for Pea.

It wouldn't take the best fighter who EVER lived to beat Meldrick Taylor.

It did take a prime Chavez though and then only literally by seconds.

I reckon they must of sparred, wonder how them sessions went. I think Whitaker was a great but Taylor at lightwelter at the time he was a champ with that handspeed would be a dangerous fighter for anyone. Hard one to pick.

Sweet pea by decision, a better overall fighter. Taylor would obviously make it very competitive though since taylor was very talented himself and could give whitaker issues with his own speed & combos.
