I saw a young/quick De La Hoya throw combo after combo against a past prime Whitaker and hit nothing but air. Handspeed is something Whitaker can handle.
Power to keep him honest? Mosley has only 2 ko wins (against Shannon no Chin Taylor and Adrian Stone) fighting as a welterweight. Chavez, Nelson, and McGirt had decent pop to keep Whitaker honest...but look what happened in those fights.

Shane can pull this off for sure. However he wouldn't be the favorite.

 

Chavez fight, some fight he lost in France, and that bum he beat and I then I think he fought DLH after that. Not sure though. :think Anyways I think Mosley is a better boxer than DLH and McGirt so he would have performed well in that fight against Pernell.
