I freely admit I was wrong about Peter's ability to deal with Maskaev, and obviuosly I was wrong on the outcome of this fight.

I also gotta admit, as someone else has said, that Peter does have an impressive ability to be rocked, and recover pretty quickly, and come back. McCline had the nightmare on ***** street, too, and he came back to win.

Peter also has a good finish him mentality which had Oleg where he had zero chance to retaliate, given that Peter got him hurt, then kept the pressure on til it was over.

Nice finish, Samuel. I gotta give credit and applaud you for that. :good

Peter is a beefy, strong, sturdy mother f***ker, who does can be hurt, but recovers quickly... Less than impressive skills, but his KO power and other assets seem to make up for what he does lack...........no question, Vitali is making one ballsy move, fighting him, cold, after his surgery and long inactivity.

I think we are in for a great fight, come summer. Where Wlad may be more cautious and box, Vitali's killler instinct and willingness to mix it up when things get heated, will make for a much more dramatic, toe to toe, brawl of a fight where both chins will be pushed to the limit.

Peter's performance wasn't good. Yes, he won a title.. but that doesn't mean he looked good doing it.

If he plans on showing up in that kind of shape for a HW title fight again, he will not be champion for long.

I'm impressed Heavyrighthand, for giving credit to Peter, even though you are a Wlad fan, I know how tough it is to make a thread and say that. Would you call yourself a Samuel Peter fan now?

That's the way he got to the title, that's the way he won it, and if he keeps it...that's how he'll keep it.

    Good post Heavyrighthand...

Peter deserves credit for giving the fans real heavyweight matchups they want to see. He doesn't run from anybody. I don't doubt for a second that he'll fight Vitali Klitschko, even though I think he'll lose.

That's what happens when you're 15 pounds overweight.

Fair enough Heavyrighthand, yes, I agree the Vitali/Peter fight will be very exciting, I just hope I'm not disappointed by Vitali backing out at the last second again, that would really do damage to the already fragile Heavyweight division.
