The general perception is Haye regularly gets injured when training. I have no reason to believe the cut is anything but genuine. However in a big fight such as this the boxer and his team have a responsibility to get to fight day in as good condition as possible. Haye seems particularly unlucky with his training, perhaps his regime needs to be reassessed.

The Furys are in a great position as far as discussing a rematch goes. They have brought their fighter along to peak for a fight on the 28th. As far as I am aware he has not been injured in his training. They are now being asked to rearrange the fight. Team Hayemaker should pay them compensation for that. It's not their fault that Haye got injured.

Fury isn't bottling it. It is just a tactic to get the best deal they can.

    No, it doesn't. Not really.
A week out from a massive PPV fight, a cut caused by sparring. It shouldn't even be possible.

It's grossly unprofessional, and Haye has a bit of a track record with similar (though never quite as bad as this) occurences.

Just confirms the feeling that it is about time the Hayemaker f*cked off for good.

Awful post. A shameless apology for Team Haye's gross unprofessionalism.

    Check the BBC news website

Seems furys camp have had a 5 million pounds change of heart and have said they still want the fight and are waiting to find out the new date

There must be doubts about Haye ever getting the ring again though.
    He's been out so long.
He does seem a little injury prone, and he's also supposed to be long retired at this age. He's like the Gerry Cooney of this era, big hype and then years of inactivity and cancelled fight.

Hopefully they can make this fight happen. Team Fury should get Tyson a tune-up within the next 4 or 5 weeks though.

Think you're right there mate.I don't think David ever wanted a return with Wlad.He wanted the {now}easier brother. The ironic and sad thing for Fury could be that with his last 2 good wins Chisora has put himself in line for a shot before him.I just hope he keeps the momentum of all that training going and gets something before the end of the year, because Haye won't be ready. But Im not holding my breath.Feel a bit sorry for them both, and us.

This is simple plain bad luck. Sparring up to a week before a fight is not unheard of and certainly not 'unprofessional' as some suggest. **** happens. A lot of money was riding on the fight, and the 'Haye cut him self' on purpose conspiracy theories are just ridiculous.

Haye's team were 100% confident and as has been reported, will be looking to reschedule this fight asap. There are no other fights out there that will generate a fraction as much cash for Fury.

Peter would be wise to give it a while to let the emotions settle down and think about this rationally... And imo, if they don't try as best they an to reschedule than I think Fury's team will be the one who will be bottling it.

Sparring 7 days out from the fight isn't unprofessional.
But getting cut doing so IS unprofessional.

There's no need to risk getting cut so close to the fight. Sparring partners should be under close instructions, the hard heavy work should have been done already, they should just be working on some finishing touches if anything, the biggest most padded headguards and gloves should be utilized.

Does anyone know who the sparring partner was ?

A cut can occur regardless of how heavy sparring is. I've seen cuts caused in the gym by small guys wearing 16oz gloves and headgear. It's one of the hazards of boxing.
