Duva: "Samuel Peter wants to unify the world heavyweight championships"

New York, March 19—Dino Duva, promoter of World Boxing Council Heavyweight Champion Samuel Peter has been actively working on the "Nigerian Nightmare's" schedule. Duva has been tireless in his efforts the last ten days following Samuel Peter's emphatic sixth-round TKO of Oleg Maskaev in Cancun that gave the Nigerian sole possession of the WBC belt.

"Now that Samuel Peter is the undisputed king of the WBC heavyweight title there are a lot of exciting things that Samuel wants to accomplish," said Duva. "Samuel has to fight Vitali Klitschko and we are working on that right now and look forward to that great match. Samuel also has a dream to bring a world heavyweight championship fight to his homeland in Nigeria. It will be the biggest sporting event in Nigerian and African history. Ultimately he wants to unify the world heavyweight championships. If Samuel and Wladimir Klitschko continue on winning paths, the rematch between the two for the ultimate heavyweight unification will be the biggest heavyweight fight in years."

"As we have been preaching for a long time, Samuel Peter has brought back excitement to the heavyweight division," added Duva. "Samuel Peter's schedule is my number one priority and it will impact the entire heavyweight division. Included in that plan and of the utmost importance is the ultimate goal of unifying all of the heavyweight belts. I have been in contact with the representatives of Vitali and Wladimir Klitschko and the other heavyweight champions and I believe exciting things will fall into place very quickly for the heavyweight division."

    ------------------------------------------

First things first. Peter has to get by Vitali Klitschko, and that will be a tall order.

But that said, they are not afraid to put Peter in with anyone. It does seem like they are eager to put him back in with Wlad, or any of the other heavyweight champions. ( I didn't realize besides Peter, that there were more than Wlad and Chagaev?...LOL )

But Chagaev and Kohl could certainly take a lesson from Peter and the confidence his handlers have in him.

the only other 'champ' is the white tyson. what's duva smoking?

and please, peter will fight vitali next or a fill in like golota or another king controlled boxer. he will manage him the same way he did with brewster and byrd. no unification, just names with low risk.

we will not see wlad-peter II anytime soon. if somehow he beat vitali, then u have the groundwork for a mega fight but even then i have my doubts when king and duva are involved. til then, we can always look back and appreciate their first fight and laugh at peter's delusional ramblings :yep

Peter is one of the few Heavyweights that are excting to watch, he also has the power to turn a fight around with one punch, I think he is great for the division and I hope to see him continue the good work, and keep the knockouts coming.

Not lately, if you asked me a couple years ago I would agree, but Wlads style of now is pretty boring and not very exciting to most fans.

So according to Duva Peter fighting someone in Nigeria would be bigger than Ali vs Foreman? LOL, yeah right. Duva is a clown and I doubt Peter makes one successful defence especially if he fights Vitali Klitschko.

for me, peter is fun to watch because of his aggressive style and vulnerabilties. he has no defense so u know he's gonna get hit. look at the wald fight, he got hammered but kept coming forward. that's pretty good stuff especially when he shook his head after a right hand which he wasnt doing later

also, his post-fight interviews are becoming better each fight :yep

Unlike Wlad who's fights are generally boring up until he knocks them out, Peter on the other hand goes toe to toe with his oppenents, and isnt afraid of getting hit, which made the Mccline, Maskaev, and even both Toney fights pretty enertaining IMO.

I agree with your whole post, I just hope Peter gets that chip off his shoulder, and starts training harder in the gym, if not he will soon have another meeting with the canvas, and against a guy like Vitali or Wlad, he might just be staying there for awhile.

LOL. Good lord The McCline fight sucked after 2 rounds and the Toney fights were decent the Maskaev fight was boring.

Well some people do find Wlad exciting, with all the Wlad nuthuggers around these days, you cant tell if someones just trying to be sarcastic, or is telling the truth. As much as I hate Wlad, I would still not consider him boring, and I do like watching his fights.
