"Not only am I going to knock him out, but I will punish him for the long wait. On March 8, he is going to feel like he is getting two years worth of physical punishment. I'm going to bring excitement back to the heavyweight championship." I cant wait to see this fight, Peter rarely has boring fights. I have perdicting a 3rd round brutal knockout for awhile now, the knockout will come from the overhand right, a punch Maskaev gets hit with alot.
He said he wants to come into this fight at 245 or lower, so theres a good chance he lost some weight.
Maskaev's hard punches will have Peter in trouble by the fourth round, and Oleg will probably TKO Peter by the 7th.
I'm hoping Peter wins this fight, but Maskaev shouldn't be taken lightly (don't think Peter is taking him lightly though). I probably would've rooted for Maskaev hadn't he moved out of my native island of Staten...but he went to California and therefore we have nothing in common anymore. Anyways, I don't think this fight will go to the cards either way.
I feel as though Peter has the talent to be a real force. his second fight with Toney was....amaysing to say the least. but then the fight with McCline left you saying "what the f...?" now as far as Oleg. solid heavyweight contender type. probably a bit better than alot of people give him credit for. still I say KO in the 5th or 6th for Peter.
Peter has yet to KO a top 25 Heavyweight. Who has he beat? a fat midget in Toney? Peter is the most overrated fighter today.
Peter is not a world class boxer. He is limited as far as footwork, and basic boxing skills go...........but to his credit, he is a fairly hard puncher (although his KO power is WAY overrated) and he seems to have a pretty good chin (although McCline proved his chin is apparently suseptible to the uppercut), but that said, Peter has an overall toughness that is hard to deal with. Package that all together and you've got a very overrated fighter who is really nothing more than a glorified toughman who will be beaten everytime he faces a world class boxer, or a decent boxer with good power. I say in a rematch, Wlad would be aware of Peter's suseptible chin, and this time, Wlad would not move and box with light punches.................this tiem he'd put the power from hell into his shots, and would knock Peter OUT. But as for this upcoming fight, Maskaev is a hard of a puncher who will be overflowing with confidence, after seeing the McCine Peter fight.................Oleg will beat PEter, mark my words.
I hope Peter excites us all by being dropped 3 times again! I hope Maskaev knocks his wife-beatin' ass outta the ring!
Peter has no answer for the big O's left hook on the inside...in order for Peter to win this fight, he has to keep the big O on the end of his jab...set up his big shots this way. If he tries to fight him on the inside, he's toast!!
