Peter has no fans. These are just stray dogs that hate Vitaly. Most, I suspect, hate him for bein white. Others may hate him for other personal reasons.

That is what it is. They hate that he is so good. Absolutely ****ing hate it.

In the 90's Vitali wasn't stationary at all, in fact he was rather quick in his feet. Watch his early fights, he was moving pretty well. The reason he became stationary in his later career was due to his ****ed up knees from his kickbox career.

Vitali deserves his credit and I did predict he would stop Peter from the get go....but there are too many people suddenly riding his sack to the point of stupidity.

He beat up a fat overrated pretender tonight. Peter, as limited as he is, did not come to keep his belt. He did better at the press conference.

Now people want to put Vitali down as some kind of all time great

Vitali is good and came through in a big way tonite. But Peter was and is a HORRIBLE prize fighter and Vitali knew this when making his decision to come back. No way he would have come out of retirement against a prime Tyson, Holyfield, Lennox, or dominant, skilled, and explosive champion and actually win.

Peter wouldn't have been a top 15 heavyweight in the 90s.

He is fast an moving well. Not flashy and showing off, but effective movement. Otherwise he could not afford to stand with his arms by his side and stick his chin out like that. He is deceptively fast and difficult to hit.

Vitaly just cant win with some people.

Here is Peter who fought a close fight with Wlad who was the consensus no. 1 in the world. He lost a close fight where he had Wlad down three times and gained a lot of attention. This was his first big fight and people began to notice him. Before this he had met absolute no-bodies. Peter grew off the fight and demanded another shoot at a belt. He felt he had proven his status as one of the very best. He got the shot and won. He was now on the top of the world - champion of the world. Taking on Vitaly - coming back as 37-year old after 4 years retired.

    He got a beating.

A beating that is so unbelievebale that some people just find it hard to give Vitaly credit. Others of course just don't want to give Vitaly credit and would never do so even if he beat Tyson, Ali and Lewis on the same night. Some people just hate, and I guess that is the way it will be.

    I'm a huge VITLAY fan

I root for him every time he fights. It's just that Sam Peter is a fraud. I knew VK would beat his fraudulent ass with ease. Peter is a fraud who is several levels below the likes of Danny Williams and Corrie Sanders

I think Vitali easily beats any current heavy aside from Wlad who he'll never fight. But Peter is a fraud. He's on the same level as boxers like McCline and Monte Barrett

Peter is simple. Very very simple. But the simple ressources he has and simple things he does still troubled a lot of fighters. Do you agree?

If he is such a fraud why was Wlad terrified of him, and looked like a scred puppy in their fight and why was Wlad knocked down trice?

I don't think Peter is a fraud. You just have to realize that he is simple, very simple, but that doesn't mean it is easy to beat him.. right?

Except if you are Vitaly - and THAT does deserve respect.

Peter is horrible and always was. Many people already knew that even though that is hard for some people to believe.

Freaking Oleg Maskaev and Sam Peter actually fought for the WBC title. :yep

A terrific post. Agreed on all fronts, and great point on Williams' heart vs Peter's.

That had a lot to do with Wlad's weak mental state at that time due to the stage of his career. He was coming off two bad losses, so this was a really important crossroads fight for him against an unknown quantity who was hyped as the next coming of Mike Tyson. If he had lost his career would have been as good as over, I'm conviced he would have retired had he lost to Peter. So he fought a really timid and overly cautious fight, putting safety above all else, holding a lot. And let's not forget that only the knockdown in the 10th round was legit.

Truer words have never been spoken.
It was like taking a penalty in the last minute of the world cup final... a rather easy task without pressure suddenly becomes so much harder...
