Some good stuff here, I'll have to read properly later.

Anyway it has to be remembered not all fights were recorded, and not all that were recorded make it onto boxrec.

I'll see what I can find for some of his opponents

Jack McAuley KOed him in 4 rounds in 1891. Kincaid was called a giant but awkward, so presumably "Shorty" is a joke.

Dick Keating, apparantly the champion indiana
Seems to have fought a Peruvian boxer Mark Wilson, can't find the result though.

    Also lost to Ed Corey

"Stonewall Jack" on his record was an old boxer Alf Jackson, though he was in his 60's

Tom Johnson fought Theodore Van Buskirk to a 10 round draw

Hit quit? A four feet eleven inch heavyweight?

Jackson was injured when he fought Corbett but he held him even.
I don't believe Corbett was on a par with Johnson and his winning resume is very very thin.
I repeat Siler: NEVER REFEREED EITHER JACKSON OR JOHNSON!
Anyone doubting this has only to check out Siler's refereeing record on
Box Rec! Mendoza will keep repeating the opposite because he is a compulsive liar!
He won't mention that Siler thought Johnson deserved the decision against Hart because that does not fit in with his agenda!

This is the real quote Siler made ,not the " adjusted ,"one Mendoza posted.
    Page111.
    Referring to the black fighters:
"Of the heavyweights,Jackson was by far the best that ever put up his hands,in this or any other country.
He probably did not have much on Johnson as a scientific fighter but as a scientific heavy hitter he towered away over Jack".

There is a huge fly in this ointment.Siler's book was published in1907 a full year before Johnson won the title on December26th 1908!

How valid would an opinion of Muhammad Ali from a leading boxing authority be in January 1963 [when he beat Charley Powell,] a year before he defeated Liston for the title?
