Fightnews: It was the threat of losing the promotion to an apparent $13 million purse offer from Arena Box-Promotion's Ahmet Öner at yesterday's WBC purse bid in Mexico City that convinced handlers of Sam Peter and Vitali Klitschko to reach a late accord. "It's alright, at least I finally encouraged the two parties to find common ground," said Öner. "At the request of the [WBC] president, I even agreed to an extension of the negotiation deadline, which was an appropriate gesture of gratitude."
Golota is still too tough of an opponent for Peter to fight in July and then VitKlit in October. Article mentioned Donnell Holmes and JD Champman as July possiblities. Those make more sense. I doubt we see Peter and Golota in July.
Well, if joecool said it is going to happen, he has an impeccable track record of providing inside info pertaining to Golota before the news breaks. Unless joecool says otherwise, I am taking his word for it. :smoke
I must say that I like Vitali Klitschko, and if he were to fight Peter I would root for him. Before these injuries I thought he gave some pretty damn good performances, especially against Lennox. That being said I don't think he makes it to October in tact. Which is sad because it ticks everyone off who thinks he's preventing clarity in the division, probably even his brother. I'd root for him against anyone except Golota.
Peter vs. Golota will be a tuff one for Peter to get thru.. either way the winner should fight Vitali just to finaly put some rest and excersise the "Other" Klitscho's ghost holding back Wlad's success. In all honesty I don't see Peter making it to that fight... get used to the sound of Golota vs. V. Klitscho. (Quick someone remove all glass shower doors, or anyhting V can slip on and hurt himself to end another premature run..)
All permanent damage to my physical appearance, self-esteem and confidence and public image as a top heavyweight shall be mine and only mine responsibility and in no way may I hold Vitali Klitschko responsible in any form whatsoever. [Insert Signature Here]
Some people never learn though. See Tyson, Lewis, And Brewster, once again Golota will finish another fight on his back.
Why not? Vital hasn't fought in over 4 yrs, add that he hadn't done anything of note before he retired. Anyway he will likely pull out in september at the last minute once Peter destroys Golota.
If Peter fights Golota? Can a 40 year old Golota be competitive for 10 rounds? He obviously has the skill to win . It is a great chance for Golota and Don King wins even bigger. A payday in Europe between Vitali and Golota would be huge. If I were King I would want this to happen. Peter is young enough to get another shot sometime. I like Peter. I wish him luck but he is really going to have to fight to win any fight that he has from here on out.
