been a year and a half now, since he graced us with his presence in a ring. i would think his head has cleared from that vicious ko applied by Jacobs by now. ex champ, only one loss, i would think the 160-168 divisions still hold some big fights for him, should he want them. Anyone know what is going on with him?
Still moving on towards bigger and better things, I guess? Seriously though. He would probably move to 168, because it was already a miracle that he could make 160 in the first place and admitted as much. But like many Haymon boxers he's probably on the shelf, and the bottom one after his couple of performances. Don't miss him one bit actually.
Ran into Peter unexpectedly in NY, he was super cool, I wish him the best and would love to see him fight soon, he definitely have more to give!
There was this Old Guys show I used to watch growing up called "Taxi" about NYC cab drivers with Danny DeVito and Tony Danza and I still remember this scene. Tony Danza was a part-time journeyman boxer on the show (like he was in real life), and had an 8-24 record. Somebody is trying to convince him to retire before he gets hurt... Danza: I have an 8-23 record, that's not too bad. Other guy: Your record is 8-24 Danza: I don't count the Ramirez bout, that was a bad decision. Other guy: Bad decision??? You got knocked out in the third round! Danza: I meant to fight him... This content is protected
He is still recovering from hand surgery, after needing a metal plate was inserted in his metacarpals
Tony was up and coming in Manhattan in the 70s, I think he was a little chinny though. This content is protected
