I'm sure you live in a land of gumdrops and sugar plum fairies, where cotton candy comes out of people's assholes.

I actually live in the real world, where you have to pay someone the same or more to walk away from a payday and keep them happy.

    That's the way life works.

    :good

I highly doubt he got $1.4 mil to watch the fight.
Not disagreeing that Al is takin care of him and in the end he'll be able to sink Roc.
Just can't believe he got as much or more not to fight.

I knew Lee got a bigger check than Quillin did on thier fight. But Al has several payday options for Quillin, especially if he remains loyal

The $$$ part, but not the reasoning behind it.

At some point in the near future, Jacobs is gonna be forced to make the Eubank or the GGG fight.

If Haymon puts Quillin and Jacobs in the ring, it gives him a chance at least to extend the hold on the WBA title.
Not saying Quillin would fare BETTER THAN Jacobs vs Eubank or GGG, but he does have a better name for now, which = more $$$.

Quillin vs Jacobs would be a payday for both those guys and Showtime would have no problem paying them for it.

Also, if DeGale defected, Haymon probably feels like he's got a decent chance of Eubank defecting.

Quillin vs Eubank on Showtime would be a big seller.

Do you actually believe a million-dollar athlete just walked away from the biggest payday of his career and vacated his title because he's "a slave?"

    :lol::lol:

He got paid ... just like most people in the world who are offered more money for a job get an equal amount (or more) from their employer to stay.

Then again, in that scenario, Haymon's not such an evil guy and Quillin isn't as stupid.

These guys are loyal to him because he pays them more than anyone else.

You don't think he'd pay Quillin a million dollars to delay Jay Z's entry into big time boxing for almost a year while he launched PBC?

Hell, Roc Nation won that purse bid last August. Instead of kicking off with a big title fight last year, they couldn't showcase a big-name fight card until Andre Ward last month.

A million dollars would've been chump change to push Roc Nation back a year.

If you think Quillin just gave up a title and a million and a half because he likes Al Haymon, that simply isn't realistic.

He got paid, just like someone would have to pay you in order for you not to jump ship and work somewhere else for more money.

Haymon's been accused of renting out big arenas around the country and not staging fights ... just eating the costs ... to block other promoters from hosting competing fights.

Paying one boxer not to fight on a rival promoter's show is basically the same thing.

Don't cry for Quillin. He has a fight scheduled for September 6 on CBS versus Tom Bob Anderson (J. De La Rosa has been mentioned).

He'll still make that Haymon money and presumably get a chance for the PBC Middleweight belt.

The fact of the matter is that without Haymon he doesn't have the modest career that he's experienced.

ducking and vacating his belt aside, quillian is half decent, proved he's every bit as good as lee in a close fight, think he'll beat Lemieux and Jacobs if he gets a fight with them.

He missed weight last time, which suggests a move to super middle? Didn't take dirrell long to get from nowhere to a title shot in that division which has decent fighters but not a lot of depth, imo his management should look at this route.
