I think it could perhaps be another nail in the coffin of the heavyweight division if a fighter this crap remained champion, although I see where you are coming from regarding finally unifying the division. I don't think there is anything too positive to come from it. Vitali wins and the division stays as is. Peter wins and we are faced with the boring prospect of his fight with Wlad, when he had his best chance and it passed. His chin has been cracked since, and he hasn't really shown great improvement.
Am I the only one who has zero interest in the Heavyweight division? Only fight I have even remote interest in is Haye/Barrett.
A Peter win is HORRIBLE for boxing. That's all we need is someone who continues to cheat like John Ruiz did and never gets warned about it. Hopefully Vitali wins, and defends the belt 3 or 4 times before he retires for good.
Come off it Guru... Peter shows up...even injured...that's a lot more than I can say for somebody about to get his ass handed to him in Berlin.:smoke
This is one of the most illogical threads I've ever heard...for the good of boxing? Are you kidding me? As long as the fight ends in a knock-out, regardless who the winner is, it will be good for boxing. Why are so many people hung up on the idea of unification in the Heavyweight division, more than the other weight classes? Unification is important, but if Peter wins, Wlad has already defeated this guy...there's no mystery here who the better fighter is!! We all know who will win the rematch. if there is going to be a unification fight, I would much rather see Vitali or Wlad fight Niko Valuev. Never before have we ever seen two giants in the ring for the unified title. In my opinion, which will soon become fact after the fight this Saturday, Sam Peter is a non-factor in the division.
