Peter / Tyson Fury Fallout

The rumour I heard is that Peter Fury and Mick Hennessy borrowed money off some real heavy dudes to pay Joseph Parker to defend his world title on youtube.

Apparently they sold these guys on that if Hughie win he'd make millions in a unification with Joshua

Post fight Mick Hennessy was distraught as he realised the debt was unpaid.

Notice soon after Tyson started working with Warren and distanced himself from Peter and Hughie.

Supposedly its because he doesn't want to be seen as being involved.

Hopefully they got a decent pay from pulev or mick might be getting taken for a walk in the desert if you know what i mean.

 

There was supposedly some bad feeling around Tyson partying with the Parker team after the Hughie fight.

No idea if that's relevant, or just a sign of the relationship's deterioration.

Sad anyway given they're family and achieved so much together.

 

i thought it all stemmed from Peter taking Hughie over to Haye's gym and talking about fighting him if Hughie beat Parker

 

Despite the conspiracy theories, I think it's a lot more simplistic than any of that. We seen a breakdown in communications with Peter and Tyson in the media.

Peter never knew what Tyson was up to or where he was during his hiatus. It was an obvious source of frustration for him when constantly questioned. Relations were obviously strained and then we saw Tyson's bad reaction to Hennessy/Peter doing a deal with Haye. Likewise Tyson partying with Parker around the time of his fight with Hughie. It looks like both parties lost respect for the other and Tyson coming back with Davison killed the relationship once and for all. If people were paying attention, we saw the whole debacle played out in front of us.

 

I also think they parted as Peter couldnt bring anymore to the table for Tyson

 

The reason will no doubt remain private and it should do to, as their family at the end of the day. Like most families they won't want to air their dirty linen in public. One thing to consider is Peter has mentioned that him and Mick Hennessey worked day and night for 2 years to deal with the issues around their bans. Then the bans were lifted and Tyson leaves Mick, I think it's fair to say that might leave a sore taste in their mouths.

 

We shouldn't overlook the fact that Hughie is Peters son. In order for Hughie to progress he needed to step out of Tyson's shadow and due to his overwhelming success he is always going to be the A-side wherever they go. It could just be a case of Peter wanting to give more time and attention to Hughie. Tyson has had his time and I don't think there is much more Peter could possibly do for him in boxing.

 

When we cast our minds back, this is probably as close to the truth as we're going to get

 

Nah. Peter would always have time for Tyson. This scenario also doesn’t explain a few indirect comments from Peter such as “we leave the betrayal to others”, and “boxing is a serious game. I’ll leave it at that” when asked about Fury Seferi

 

Maybe, but I think he was probably referring to Okolie and that Seferi comment was fair imo.

I did notice a few comments during Tyson's JRE interview that could have been sly digs at Peter but again could be taking things out of context.

 

Initially I thought talk of a big feud was exaggerated but I thought it was pretty telling that Tyson didn't post a single good luck message to Hughie on the weekend. Usually he's a big supporter of Hughie and vice versa but absolutely nothing on IG and Twitter all week last week.

Quite sad. I wonder if that is a potential fight down the line. I've made a thread about it before. Travellers are known to settle family disputes with a straightener so maybe that's a money-spinning way for Tyson, Hughie and Peter to bury the hatchet.

 

Be good entertainment but not a chance.

I hope they can bury the hatchet metaphorically speaking. Peter's come in for some unjustified criticism following Hughie's defeat, he misjudged a cut which the majority would assume would end the fight and threw the game plan out the window.

Regardless, he seemed to be an anchor to reality for Tyson.

 

Fair enough not a good luck message but goes back to him not stealing his cousins limelight.
