I recall that left hand from the Sniper on Dr. Klitschko but he moved back and behind his long left jab like you should do. Against Lewis, he did take the big punches and you are right, he didn't quit.

Concerning Byrd, I can tell you that injuries can happen all the time but not usually at that point where you are significantly outjabbed and frustrated like Vitali was against Chris. But talking about excrutiating pain on arms, shoulders, ankles and other parts of the body... Vitali is supposed to quit whenever he feels the excrutiating pain, isn't it? So what is he gonna do when Peter throws a massive right hand and connects on the ribcage, just for an example? Excrutiating pain, injury and Vitali quits. It should work that way considering injuries.

Yes I agree. Vitali looked intense even right after Peter turned away. I think if Vitali has enought left(layoff injuries). He can beat Peter down, Vitaki is very big strong, and physical. Fights big very well, he is more imposing than Vlad. And Vlad gave Peter all kinds of trouble, also I like Vitali`s chin. Good matchup...

I certainly hope that he doesn't think this will be an easy fight. He needs to train for this as if he were fighting the Klitschko that was champion back in the day.

If he coasts at all - it could be a painful experience for Peter. However, I hope that being champion he will act like a champion. I expect him to train hard and get his weight down. He will need to be mobile against Klitschko and he must force opportunities as well as punch in bunches. I want to make this clear. Peter will have to up his game and be in tip top shape.

The question for me is whether Klitschko has anything left. An injury prone Klitschko who has been inactive and been concentrating on politics for the past few years may not be the same person he once was. I'm guessing Klitschko will be a shell of his former self. He will make this competitive for a few rounds but will gas and be there for the taking.

I'm picking Peter to win this one.

None of this stuff matters, when they get into the ring it will all matter, both men seem confident. I would favor Klitschko, I think he is the better man but what has 4 years layoff done to him. Nothing to his mind or confidence but 12 rounds is just that. If Vitali is 90 % of what he was, he should beat Peter but anymore than that could put him at risk. 4 years of and no comeback fight, wow, but style wize I like Vitali by a stop or UD

Well my statement was taken out of context...allow me to rephrase. VITKLIT never beat the WBC Champion, the organization for which he was named "champion emeritus."

VITKLIT won a vacant title defended it one time, prior to cancelling his next FOUR Champiopnship bouts...that is all. That is how he earned his "emeritus."

In the days VITKLIT held the WBO Title, it was an inferior belt, and has only gained credibility after WLAD lost in his quest to gain the belt the first time against Brewster...since WLAD wrapped another belt around his waist after (IBF) the stock of the WBO belt instantly went up...a reflection of WLAD going on to win a rival belt while FAILING in his quest to gain the WBO.

It is only post WLAD-Brewster I that the WBO belt is worth mentioning...VITKLIT held it prior.

Another point of note is that VITKLIT did not beat a true incumbent World Champion. Hide won the vacant title...VITKLIT then defeated him.

IF VITKLIT can make it to the ring and be successful, defeating Sam Peter would be his greatest acconmplishment.

I see your point, but by the same token, Peter, being the current holder of the SAME title you just discreditted, how would beating him be worth any merit?

    :blood :blood :blood

If Vitali was not a legit, tested champion, then Peter is not, either, with him being merely a dilluted holder of the same minimal meaning title Vitali held.........and beating Peter will earn Vitali no more clout than he got when he beat Sanders, according to you.

You cannot WIN a fight in a "staredown" But you can LOSE a fight. The mental part of a fight is HUGE. Dont underestimate the staredown:admin

Let's be realistic, it's been 4 years, Vitali has slowed down, but how much?

I'd say he lost some of his power, some of his quickness, some of his conditioning, some of his mobility, not a lot, but just enough to pair him down with Peter.

Not to mention he still has to make it past training camp and should look rusty, at least for the first few rds, because of inactivity.

There's a lot for Vitali to overcome, it won't be a walk in the park, I still think he can do it though.

Agreed. 40 oz is seems like 16oz at best on the topic of boxing. Staredowns mean something.
