Peter vs. V. Klitschko

Aside form the Lewis fight when has Vitali engaged in "wars"? He is usually a counterpuncher/boxer-puncher who operates from the outside and relies on mobility and height.

 

Exactly, but you didnt factor in the fact he's 4 years older, which means his mobility will be nothing like it was before, and his counter punching will also be hindered, due to the fact he refuses to get a warmup fight and has been 4 years inactive, you can be rest assured his timing will be off as well. We all remember how off Tysons timing was when he came back after 3 and a half years, and Vitali's not even half the fighter a prime Tyson was.

 

Peter wasn't exactly a model of speed or mobility in his last fight.

 

I never said he was, but he is relatively active, and has showed technical improvement. I'm not saying it's going to be an easy night for Peter, but in the end the better, more active fighter will prevail.

 

More active, yes, better, no.

Vitali is presumably more dedicated than post-prime Tyson was, though. And he was more active than Tyson during the layoff, because he went through multiple training camps - just pointing this out. I'd like Vitali to win, but I think there's a good chance he'll be too rusty.

 

Vitali watches himself and is always in good shape, but that doesn't mean he's in good "boxing shape". I'm sure he spars a lot more then usual to shake off the rust but I still expect his timing to be somewhat off when he actually fights Peter, considering nothing happens to put off the fight.

 

How do you know? Of course he's going to tell the media he spars all the time and is always in fighting shape, but is that the truth? Who knows, only Manny and him know that for sure. While Tyson was not the most dedicated fighter out there, he never got injured or canceled fights nearly as much as Vitali, so theres where the problem lies.

We will all see what Vitali has left come October, my guess is not much.

 

Since when has vitali been great at uppercuts :huh he is not the best inside fighter going at all. He is good at setting people up off the jab and big strauight right hands if anything.

I personaly think the last version of vitali we saw ko peter within five, but its been so long that the jury is out on what he has left.

Even if he wins though how long can he go on for ?

 

Vitali doesn't plan on cleaning out the division if he wins. He's only taking this fight to try to fulfill the dream he and Wlad have of being co heavyweight champions. If he wins you can expect him to relinquish the belt afterwards.

That is False. Vitali has said in several interviews that he would like to unify with Valuev or Chagaev. He has said he wants all the Heavyweight belts in the Klitschko family.

 

Vitali also promised to be an "active champion" and to "only fight the best and unify the titles" after he won the vacant WBC strap.

What happened? - one fight in 2 1/2 years (against Danny freaking Williams ) before retiring.

Why would you believe a word that comes out of his mouth?
