Wlad cheated that night as well, and cheats in other fights too. You can't excessively clinch, he did that against Peter and others and did not have a point taken away for it, he leans on fighters backs during the clinch, also a illegal tactic. If you watch the Peter fight closely, Wlad would clinch Peter right after he landed a punch, not allowing Peter to fire back. Also during the one knockdown, Wlad truned his back to Peter and suffered a fair consequence of his actions, he got banged on the back of his head. This is actually allowed, watch Frazier against Foreman or Bowe against Holyfield in the first fight, both Bowe and Foreman kncked there oppenent down from a punch that landed to the back of the head. Guess what, the ref said nothing and knockdowns counted.
Dude Toney was clearly way past his prime and his legs wasn't there when he fought Peter in the rematch. Again Chambers is younger and quicker then Toney. And Chambers does have very good boxing skills. At this era Chambers boxing skills is better then Aging Toney. Toney that fought Holyfield would beat Chambers no doubt but Toney that fought Peter in the rematch would lose badly to Chambers.
yea when peter had to rematch toney,, almost everybody here said that toney would outbox peter just like your saying chambers would no doubt outbox peter,,, give me a 240 to 230 Peter in a rematch with chambers and then we would see whats up
i just saw a clip of Sammy Ko win in Mexico and hope he returns to winning ways putting everything since 2008 behind him.. mirageboxing.blogspot.com
This is true, but as I explained before. Every great fighter has one or more illegal tactics in their arsenal, like an old boxing trainer told me "If you aint cheating, your not trying hard enough to win", Holyfield uses his head, Tyson follows through his hooks with his forearm/elbow, Lewis leaned his weight on fighters backs in the clinch, Foreman hit you with rabbit punches etc... Peter does swing wildly, and sometimes it catches the back of the head. Your not playing "It Tag" in the ring, your in a fight for christ sakes. With any contact sport fouls will happen, and boxing is no different. The ref also warned Toney in the dressing room before the fight not to invite those type of blows by putting your head down low, something Toney is known for doing.
in the first toney fight peter weighed in at what?? 257 I believe and in the second fight Peter weighed in at 243 or so and the diff in the two fights was night and day,, you give me a 240 peter and he crushes chambers imo
That doesn't make them right. Judges are human and are prone to error just like you and me. As per Peter and his career chances, let's not get too excited. He was fighting someone who was 22-16 opponent who had been KO'd 11 times. Let's remain calm. As for the weight, It's great to see. It could be an aberration however. Let's see him come in below 245 for the next 2-3 fights before we assume he's changed his ways.
