Sam Peter has been under the rader for the better part 2009, but like all good fallen champs. He has now fought his way back up to the top once again. He is set to take on Nagy Aguilera in 2 weeks. A vicious banger with a reputation for no bull**** in the ring. Once headbutting a guy intentionally after taking a low blow. Which broke his oppenents nose and forced the ref to stop the fight. Aguilera is most known for his brutal knockout of Maskaev in his last fight.

If Peter was to win, which I think he will be by mid round TKO. He will be the mandatory challenger for Wlad, who is also set to fight in march. We all remember how dramatic the first was, can a second fight also bring excitement back to a near dead division? Will a fight with Peter convince HBO to pick up another Wlad fight?

While I dont think Peter is the destroyer he once was back in 05 when they first fought, I do feel however he will have a punchers chance and the chin to take Wlad deep and possibly force Wlad into a fight.

    Wlad beats him easy now.

Peter really never was a killer like you speak off, hes been overrated since day one. Has not really stopped a top pro except Maskaev, and Maskaev gets KO'd by bums.

Call me crazy but I'd like to see it again. Sam has a punchers chance but I think Wlad will take it

He had Wlad on the deck 3 times, made him clinch 97 times, and forced Wlad to panic. It was Wlad's toughest fight since Sanders. Peter may have been overrated, but he did give Wlad a hard fight. Something 95% of his other oppenents cant say.:deal

Wladimir already beat a better version of Peter than the one he'd be fighting now. Probably a Wladimir KO win around the 7th to 9th round.

He put Wladimir down with illegal blows, and had him down like you said, three times. Which speaks volumes of a guy, losing a wide UD after having your opponent down three times.

Peter is not elite, is not a killer, is not a good finisher and is now a quitter.

I'd rather have him fight Povetkin so Pov can clean him out the picture once and for all.

The arrow on Wlad post Peter 1 has at least stayed where it is. The arrow on Peter has been pointing towards E for a while now.

I think Wlad would beat Peter decisively.

Wlad was not put down with illegal blows in all 3 knockdowns. Just the one. The wide UD you speak of was not the case either. Wlad won by 3 points on all 3 of the judges scorecard. It was a competitve fight, in which both men were almost knocked out. Wlad in the 10th and Peter in the 12th.

Povetkin is afraid of Wlads power, he's backed out 2 times already by my count. The guy has fought nothing but feather fisted fighters over the last couple years. His best wins are over Bryd, Donald, Chambers, and the guy he just fought with ko ratio of under 15%, all guys that cant punch. At least Peter has fought whoever was put infront of him, power or not.

I suspect Vit Klit ruined Peter.

He was no world beater to begin with and that beating was simply brutal.......

Sorry i know that Peter - Aguliera is an IBF Eliminator but in my opinion Peter doesn't deserve another titlefight at the moment.

He hasn't done anything since his loss to Chambers and a Ko win over Aguilera wouldn't change that fact.

I agree. Though thats take a look at some fighters that didn't deserve a title shot over the last 7 years, but infact made the best of it. Brewster/Wlad 1 in 2004 for the WBO belt, Brewster was coming off of a 15 month break when he got a chance to fight Wlad. In 2006 Lyiakhovich was coming off of 14 or 15 month break when he got the chance to fight Brewster for the WBO belt. Sanders/Wlad 2003, Sanders was called on very short notice and was asked to step in against Wlad because every other oppenent declined the opertunity. He was retired at the time and looked at boxing as a part time job. Vitali nearly 4 years off. His last win was over Danny Williams. Came back and got an undeserving shot against Sam Peter.

As you could see by my examples, these guys are no different. Some even alot worse. I could also throw in names like Rahman, who fought Wlad last year after quiting against James Toney the fight or two before or Austin somehow getting the chance to fight Wlad or Brewster getting the rematch against Wlad after being off from the sport for 15 months. This is the way heavyweight boxing works today, it's in very bad shape.

Of the 3 KDs, two were "illegal" (one really, one was a wrestle-down hip toss not even a KD), one was perfectly legal via a long hook to the temple Wlad didn't react in time on. Wlad would have been in trouble if the round wasn't over there.

Anyways, a fight with a reworked Peter, <240lb, would be at least as good as taking on any other guy in the top 10. There is not a big choice currently.
