I know he quit like a coward......but how does his chin rate? Alot said it was average after the McCline fight.
Still one of the best at Heavyweight, say what you will, be he wasnt going to get knocked out by Vitali, if anything he was getting stopped on his feet. He's no McCall, but on the other hand, he doesnt have a glass plated chin like Wlad either.
Alot was made bout me saying that Peter had a ruptured eardrum against McCline leading to the knockdowns. I think the vit fight proved my point. Tell me what fighter could have took those shots from vit over and over again and never go down atleast once??? McCall excluded
noone, I think even Toney would of went down from them blows. Vitali has floored nearly all of his oppenents, that should you give you an idea of how powerful that man is.
Peter is done since Wladimir fights him in 2005. In this fight Peter took to much punishment. Samuel Peter has a great chin in this fight but he never recoverd from this loss.
He does not seem to have a great chin but its not a glass jaw, yet the man gets hit a lot so it can not be weak...I would say its good but the McCline fight and the 11th rd vs Vlad showed he is not a superman or close
tyson had one of the best chins ever... he only got knocked out when completely beat to fook over many rounds...never sparked.
It's ok but not great. Vitali is an accumulation puncher, because his punching technique isn't that great compared with Wlad for example. It benefits him in a way because he hits from weird angles and many guys can't handle that but it also prevents him from doing the maximum damage he could with his punches. He has heavy hands but he usually he puts a beating on an opponent before he takes him out or the fight is stopped. I feel the damage Vitali did was just beginning to really take its toll on Peter. Peter was getting even more stationary and easier to hit in the later rounds. I'm convinced Peter would have gone down in the following rounds because it was only getting worse for Peter.
