He'll land some good shots. But Lamont is up to it. He stays calm, makes adjustments and fights like a warrior. I dont see Matthysse putting enough together to put Lamont down or knocking him out. Lamint has the experience and confidence now to really look impressive in there vs this so called killer Matthysse.

To be fair, Matthysse's "block every punch with my face" defense isn't very effective either.

Lamont has been hurt from lesser punchers so don't act so confident.

Ummmm YDKSAB or are a blind hater.

Matthysse keeps his hands up blocking alot of head and body shots with his gloves and elbows, slips punches decent enough and is quite good a parrying them. His defense is very solid and perhaps the most underrated part of his game. He has a supurb chin but even more noteworthy is the fact that he doesnt get hit flush too often. Join the discussion when you have something constructive or factual to add.

P.S. Watching Peterson vs Ortiz right now, never saw it.

Peterson has never been seriously hurt. Mostly flash knockdowns. He at times gets caught while slipping or pulling away from a punch. Plus Peterson went down vs much faster handed fighters such as Khan, Ortiz and Bradley who could catch him. Definitely possible Lamont goes down ofcourse but in his previous fights, it was more of a speed issue causing flash kd's. He should be able to get out of the way of the slower Matthysse.

I honestly think Matthysse becomes a very average fighter once you take his right hand away. And ive already said how Lamont is gonna negate and counter it. Plus Lamont just needs to tie Matthysse up when his back touches the ropes, or just pivot out. He is good enough to stay inside and work the body but what he doesnt want is stay too long and let Lucas find room for his shots.

Beautiful how Lamont started getting off first and timing Ortiz with lead rights. Peterson is a very smart fighter, he can beat anyone at 140.

Finished watching it a few minutes ago. Well his main weapon in that fight was when Ortiz would try to throw from too far out and reach with his left cross he would leave himself wide open (something he does very often), Peterson took advantage by taking pulling back then countering with his right. Did it quite a few times and it was lovely. Ortiz has horrible ring intelligence and would run, not even box but run, when he should have been pressing the action. Peterson had a very difficult time when Ortiz got inside and started working his power shots.

It was a horrible decision. The closest you could have it is 5-5 or 95-93 Ortiz. Really i thought it was 7-3 or 97-91 Ortiz same as Letterman. Robert ****ing Hoyle had it 95-93 Peterson giving him 7 rounds which is insane.
