It would be right behind Maidana in terms of his toughest test, IMO. Good boxing skill, some power, some speed, durable, youthful, a balanced defense and offense, decent timing...he'd give Khan some competition, timing his own shots between Khan's often rushed flurries. I still favor Khan to win a comfortable majority of rounds, but it won't look picture-perfect like it did against Judah.

Peterson should of took the fight before khan stepped his skills up.to.another level. Peterson vs the khan who fought MCClosky would had success in spots, now khan has fixed a lot of his errors and has become more discipline.

:good After beating maidana and zab judah, he deserves it. People use to hate on him cuz he was fighting good boxers (malignaggi-kotelnik but they had no power). Judah and maidana was supposed to knock khan china chin but instead he took some good shots and didn't go down and won.

Too much hand speed and Peterson relies on the body attack. But he would never get past Khan's jab.

peterson is a good fighter...but hes 1-1-1 latley and hasnt done much to generate any excitement for khan to even look at him

After the Prescott fight it seems as though it was the UK fan boys on here distancing themselves from him as fast as they could. They're back though. :-(

    now sitting as IBF mandatory

is in a pretty good spot as Khan will probably take a bigger money fight and move to Welter next year making the

**an issue I brought up and nobodies been able to answer is ... Khan has a December HBO date open

but with all the other titlists having recent upcoming fights

i.e. Maidana vs Guerrero at the end of this month

next month & Prescott's fight being in early September

which one of these guys could realistically challenge Khan in December?

    that's why I think

stands a good chance of getting the fight vs Khan. Because besides coming off an Eliminator win, he's just fought and will be well rested when compared to any of the above ... especially if those fights go all 12 rounds and injuries/cuts occur.

I think Khan should try to sign the Prescott fight NOW soas it could still happen before the end of the year. Then, he should give Peterson his shot at the legitimate championship, rather than vacating his title and tossing it aside for the next paper champ.

People need to get over this "theres no $$$ in it for Khan" crap. The kid will generate his own dough, and doesn't need Pac or PrettyGirlFloyd to sell a fight. Any fight Khan has in GB will bring him 7 figures, even against cans.

That said, the Prescott rematch would be redemption for Khan and bring big money. Peterson could be building his drawing power by getting a fight with Soto, Judah, or Holt in early 2012. Then Khan and Peterson could have their fight in April, next year.

I wouldn't call Peterson a pushover. The guy is a torrid body puncher, and has a great chin, and solid defense. He slips shots, and Khan sometimes forgets to double his jab. That could leave him open to a hard counter right hand, and make things interesting throughout the fight.

I still pick Khan to beat Lamont, but not in amazing style. Would be a GREAT fight, against arguably the best all around talent Khan would have fought.

Well from what I've read Khan's already penciled in for that December date, it's just a a matter of finding an opponent

if Prescott looks impressive and can finish his fight quickly .. while not taking a lot of damage a rematch with Khan makes a ton of sense for the reasons you named .. plus being a rematch certainly helps to sell the fight

but Prescott obviously has to win the eliminator in September and IMO look good doing it. a dull 12 round snoozefest won't help his case

and if it goes all 12 rounds, what's the likelihood that Prescott comes back in December vs Khan?

we'll just see how everything plays out, December is a long time away from now anyway.
