Have to disagree Rico. He's a user, that's clear - if he used for one fight he uses for another.

He was confident that what he had couldn't be detected, hence bringing up random testing - but somewhere along the line they ****ed up and got a positive test.

Yeah. but I think it depends. Although with him, he is 28 years old. That should be "Prime" years. And given he is an Elite athlete....
Then again, we've seen even athletes in their 20's in collision sports just tail off suddenly.

It varies so much.

Most of the time I just put it down to athletes having used and abused steroids for a long time. Or even a short time and their body's are no longer responding to get their levels back up to "normal." And even "normal" is debatable given the wide margin. Longer talk on this.

Injuries: Head and Testicle injuries. Hit to the head may cause the Pituitary to be injured which results in lower production if not permanent shut-down.
Same with the testicles. I'm not sure about the statistics with this.
So, protect your head and nuts.

Genes: Not positive on this but there is a long discussion on this and how they play a factor. Just get genetic testing. There can be so much to discuss on this and its on going research.

Hard to say. I'm not an endocrinologist and a researcher. Just an ESB expert
But that's why you take it to the commission if you have an issue. They need to review it and determine it.

apparently there are variations now that have a much shorter half-life (detection time). . . there's so many different designer versions, and masking agents. .

i don't really know that much about it, other than some forms can stay in your system for purposes of steroid detection, for a very long time.

YES...I'm pretty sure you have to clear it through them.

Now if he thought about this, I don't know. but you would think it being his profession, he would know to so we can't give him a pass for negligence if indeed it was. And why wouldn't he still be on them if it was Medical ?
Unless he was retested and his hormones are somehow fine now.

More details needed.

But who cares. Athletes are hard to be trusted and He messed up this fight.

A list of approximate detection times of anabolic/androgenic substances. This is only loosely related to half life:
http://www.steroid.com/steroid_detection_times.php

Half lives are much shorter than these times.

So you believe he roided for a December match and tested negative, turned up positive in late March but negative in April?

Interesting.
if its a TRT dose then there would be no competetive edge. in theory.
Will be interesting to see what happens.

When are the randomised tests in boxing typically taken?

My guess was that his plan was to take it early in his training camp, then get off it so that he'd be clean in the build up to the fight, let's say a week or two from the fight. That way he'd still have the benefits of the steroid for the fight (increased muscle mass and bone density), without testing positive for it.

Yeah, that sounds plausible. Either way, he was being very insincere and thought he could fool the world by insisting on these tests.

He should have told the commission the very second he was prescribed it.
That's assuming its true in the first place.

we don't know if he was even tested for the first fight. . but since he was expecting the tests (random or not), he could hae been using a masking agent, or could have had a ****ing wizzinator strapped on with somebody elses urine for all I know. . .

It just makes perfect sense. . He wasn't expecting to get caught (thinking htey had acleare his system) so he had no reason to fear random drug tests from VADA. . . I don't think he's that big of an idiot, I really don't. . .

That's my theory, and I'm sticking to it. . But like I said, even if he was doping for the rematch too, it doesn't change thte fact that he already ADMITTED he used for the first fight as well! SO WIN, WIN! KING KHAN really held a doped up Pederson to only win 4 rounds! Khan beat a roid-head!

Genuinely can't believe some of the naivety in this thread. I think people need to start being honest with themselves about the state of this sport.

Top athletes in pretty much all sports dope, even the best regulated sports with the most stringent testing. They can do this because the drug manufacturers are always ahead of the testors.

As well as being the most brutal of all sports, boxing is also the most corrupt, has possibly the worst testing protocol and has ridiculously high amounts of reward at stake if you make it to the top. I think people are deluding themselves to think that boxing isn't rife with performance enhancing drugs.

The whole 'random drug testing' is nothing more than a gimmick, as if you're a top boxer or any other athlete it doesn't matter when you're tested - you can afford the stuff that the testors can't detect. The only reason you'll fail a test is if you **** up the cycle. (read a testimony from someone like Angel Heredia, who was afforded immunity for testifying in the BALCO case)

Peterson has ****ed up and revealed that he is a fighter who uses performance enhancing drugs. He has admitted to using them in the first fight and there is absolutely no logical argument to suggest he wouldn't have been using them in this fight.

Petersen bros are weak minded, younger one kept low blowing rios to get dq when the going got tough. the older one took peds to win.
