Bull****, absolutely the right call. Spinks never landed a single meaningful punch. Don King made the mistake of paying off the commentator and not the judges.
The interviewer just said Verno is the new IBF welterweight champion...apparently he just beat Kermit Cintron.
Dead. Dead serious. This is one of the worst robberies I've seen.. I mean, I can see people punishing Spinks on their scorecards for not liking his style and for not putting forth the effort to win rounds big (as biased as people said he was being, Sheridan actually was pretty critical of Spinks in saying that he had almost never won a round in his career that wasn't close) - but arguing more than a couple of these rounds for Verno is a stretch. I'm thinking back to some of the bad recent ones, Toney-Peter I, Casamayor-Santa Cruz, Huerta-Diamond...this is definitely as bad or worse.
I saw Verno landing the much cleaner shots throughout. I hope people weren't persuaded by the biased commentator who probably gets paid by Don King.
This dude if full of **** ... I can't believe that he won ... his corner was urging him to turn it up and that he was losing.
what the **** are you talking about ... Spinks fought back everytime he got caught ... the punches were flush but they didn't hurt Spinks ... Phillips is full of **** !!
Virtually everyone is incredulous at these scores. Don't try to hide your blatant hatred of Spinks' style and bias against him behind accusations that EVERYONE except the two people claiming this decision is just is somehow gullible and stupid enough to have their view of a fight influenced by a commentator. :-(
