I don't hate Spinks. I didn't even watch the fight closely. But i felt Phillips was effectively aggressive. He landed the cleaner and harder shots. The idiotic commentator just failed to acknowledge this time and time again. That's all i'm saying. I think Spinks won also. But i don't think it's a robbery.
Spinks was fighting on the inside ... he was taking and giving ... not showing signs of hurt ... he didn't run ... he stayed and brought the fight to him.
Well, all 3 judges didn't think so. And i had it much closer. I thought Spinks won also. But it was competitive IMO. It wasn't a wash as the commentator indicated IMO.
Yeah I don't get it at all ... he was the champ ... you have to beat the champ and tonight didn't happen.
DK has had problems with Spinks in the past. This, plus the fact that SPinks is not a big star or earner leads me to believe DK dropped some dead weight tonight. Don't be surprised if this is the last fight Spinks has promoted by King.
Maybe King wanted to get rid of a champion that public feedback had deemd unprofitable and non-tv-friendly? Look, I'm not going to throw the word corruption out there without any but circumstantial evidence - but I am tempted. This is a case of horrible, horrible, wretched judging - some of the worst of all time, if sincere - and if disingenuous is one of the most egregious cases of corruption in organized sports that I can remember. I won't jump on the conspiracy theory bandwagon and use the word corruption...but I will throw the word robbery out there with no compunctions. That is what this was, without a doubt. The wrong man walked away champ tonight.
