Found this excerpt, where O'Brien discusses Tommy Burns, interesting. From the St. Louis Globe-Democrat, Feb. 25, 1906. ""Philadelphia Jack O'Brien was the most surprised person in the world when a reporter told him this morning that Tommy Burns had beaten Marvin Hart in their twenty-round battle at Los Angeles last night. 'Well, what do you think of that? I thought Hart would have no trouble to beat Burns, as I beat him easily in a six-round bout in Milwaukee, October 8, 1904, and on that account I could not see where Burns had a possible chance of winning from Hart,' said O'Brien. 'Will you fight Burns?' O'Brien was asked. 'Will I fight him? Well, I should say I will. Although Burns was beaten by Jack (Twin) Sullivan, I think that Burns is now entitled to a fight with me for the heavyweight championship title, as he beat Hart so easily that the public will demand that I fight him.'
Bump because this is falling down already. Jack is someone I really need to learn about. Thanks for sharing.
I have 50 minutes of their fight. O’Brien’s quick feet do not allow for an angry and aggressive Burns to catch him. After 10 minutes it’s the same thing. Burns wins in aggression in a hard fight to fully watch. if O’Brien committed to throwing more punches he probably would have won.
