I LOVE Frazier But this is bad match up for him. He was a slow starter and Tyson was a fun starter, with very fast hands. I rate Frazier higher over all, but not head to head.

    LHW Tommy Loughran vs

I know some Philly writers had Loughran winning But the wire report stated that most of the sportswriters favored Tunney, but the Inquirer did vote for Loughran.

    MW

    vs Jake Lamotta
Hopkins would be too smart for Jake on this one.

    WW Pete Latzo vs

    No need to say anymore

    LW Bob Montgomery/Lew Tendler vs

Leonard was one of the top Lightweights of all-times.

    FW Percey Bassett/Benny Bass vs

Tony was one of the best at several weight classes.

    BW

    vs Lou Salica
Chandler would be too tall for Lou. He was at least the best Bantamweight ever from the USA.

    FLY

    vs Frankie Genero
    Wolgast would have edged Genero

They fought once...and he clearly did not beat him..the fight was technically a draw, and while I jokingly made refrence to the Philadelphia/NY papers, most accounts say that after an early KD Loughran controlled the rest of the fight...amazing that as many times as Tunney chose to fight Greb and others he managed to avoid ever seeing Loughran again!

I would take Loughran 2 out of 3...not sure about out of 10

    Tyson stops Frazier.

Loughran and Tunney fight a 5-bout series with neither able to get the edge.

LaMotta decisions Hopkins (if he can beat SRR, he can beat BHop)

    SRR beats Latzo

BLeonard already proved to be Tendler's master. Onrushing fighters like Montgomery were his meat, too.

Canzoneri beat Bass several times already and would handily defeat Percy Bassett.

    No opinion on Chandler-Salica

    Wolgast beats Genaro

fair enough :good i think that a prime tunney beats a prime loughran more often than notbut we're talking about two of the best ever with, at times against similar opposition, similar styles. it'd be tough to pick any time and i would never put money on a winner

hh, i don't think i've ever disagreed with you (for good reason!) and while i see your point i think the frazier/tyson fight goes the same as frazier/quarry except he goes through hell the first 3 rounds. tyson was brilliant and h2h one of the best ever at any weight...but he didn't like fighting joes fight and he didn't have the physicality of foreman to FORCE joe into his kind of fight. face in his chest hairs, frazier overwhelms tyson

You could be right But if Oscar can come close to stopping Joe, I think Mike would do the complete job. Also, Quarry was very good, But he was no Tyson. I just think that Tyson would start very fast as he usually did and he would hurt Joe early and then finish the job.

Honestly, I wish I could agree with you, because I really liked Joe. I had the pleasure to talk to him for approx. 45 minutes before a boxing show in New Jersey, which I ring announced. He even took a picture with my grand daughter who was just a baby at the time.
