I think it depends on how you use it, I will say to you, don't try to use it like Floyd. Because he does use cat-like reflexes with his, most fighters like Toney and Bhop will fight from their shell, shoulder up, chin tucked, in the pocket and roll whenever a right-hand comes, and hit back either to the body or the head, this is a traditional philly shell. Floyd on the other hand shells up literally to dodge shots or when on the ropes, and otherwise is an in-and-out counter puncher, you can see him twitch/shell up momentarily, lean back and step away from his opponent when he thinks they are going to throw - it requires incredibly good timing, footwork, and reflexes to do this, his is a merge of two styles that are very difficult to acheive individually so I I'm not sure if I'd recommend doing them simultaneously in competative bouts or where you are overmatched.
