I remember him! Man, he was so ass, even tho he was really athletic for his size. Golden Boy promotions actually picked him up in the US and did a lot of promotion for him at the time. But I bet that everyone involved realized his limitations and they cut ties. But I wish he had stayed around for longer, it would have been a fun career. I wonder what he is up to now?
Richie Melito is another especially if you look at some of the fight descriptions like for Thomas Williams https://boxrec.com/en/box-pro/9039
'Williams was convicted of throwing this fight, fight fixer Richard Mittlemen also convicted.' Richard Mittlemen had his boxing seconds license suspended indefinitely by the American Association of Boxing Commissioners. Mittleman told the authorities he felt remorseful because his illegal tactics “were dishonorable and despicable in embarrassing my family.” “I made a horrible mistake, it was a terrible nightmare. I am not a serial fight fixer. It was a crazy aberration...a stupid mistake I’ll never make again,” Mittleman said. LOL!
More on Mittleman: Dec 2004 On Monday, Robert Mittleman, 61, the former boxing manager, who pleaded guilty in April to 2 counts of sports bribery and one count of bribery of a public official, was sentenced to 5 years probation by a judge in Federal court. Already in trouble for helping fix 2 fights in 2000, Mittleman offered a police officer $15,000 on October 30th 2003, in an attempt to get an assistant U.S. attorney and a U.S. district judge to drop the charges against his fighter. He then paid the officer, who was in fact an undercover investigator, $3,000 on December 12th 2003.
The promoter of the Williams-Melito fight (referred to above), Robert Mitchell, was years later sentenced to 15 months in prison for other boxing related crimes. Feb 2005 Promoter Robert Mitchell, 42, and boxer Thomas Williams, 35, were convicted by a federal jury in November on one count each of conspiracy and of sports bribery. The jury found Mitchell was involved in paying bribes of more than $70,000. Mitchell and Williams were found guilty of fixing 11 fights from March 1995 to August 2000. It was none other than Robert Mittleman who testified against Mitchell and Williams after agreeing to plead guilty in the case. Cheat and grass as well was Mittleman.
