Photos Burns Martinez final presser

i think Burns is going to get hammered by Martinez - it will either be a wide UD or late stoppage. I hope I am wrong but his performances in his last few fights tells me he is out of his depth.

Watched bit of Cook-Martinez last night...things i noticed.

Martinez Weaknesses
-Ate Cook's Jab. If you snap it and make sure it's straight it lands with ease. Knocks head back

-His own jab isn't anything special but i notice he lifts chin up with it (Jerky style jab). Burns can counter over it with lead counter right hand. Make him Pay Burns!!!

-Body Shots. You can at points stand your ground with Martinez when in pocket and rip compact short sharp shots to body. As he goes into full guard and gives himself no chance to counter. He then throws looping shots when coming out of battle. So Ricky needs to be cool and off at angle.

-Burns must use a mix of lateral movement and unpredictable attacks. Puerto Rican fighters i have noticed like to fight at there own pace and at there own rhythm. I think if Burns makes can mix up his boxing and lay imprint on judges by not just backing off he can take title.

-Martinez against Cook swung wildly. Looking to land ''hollywood'' hooks. Burns mustn't get Chad Dawson on us and think all about defence. He must be sharp to countering Rocky.

If Burns can start fast and get rounds under belt and make Martinez chase. Rocky's primal instincts will come to fore and he will try engage Ricky in a stand up war. Ricky then must continue to box with his brains.

Obviously Ricky has weaknesses..but people going on like Martinez is amazing...i like Rocky but he's weaker of champions out there right now.

Quite possibly the worst comment ever when describing Roman Rocky Martinez. Watch the Daniel Jimenez fight mate. "own pace" You wont have seen a pace like it. I'll chop my **** off if Burns throws half as many. Burns must run and counter, anything else and hes toast

Well it does cos Martinez works at a high pace. Probably he's greatest strength is his punch output

 

Listen ''Rocky'' ...if you read what i said you may clock that i haven't said they cannot fight at high pace i said they like to fight at there on pace and there own rhythm. Never said they cannot fight at high tempo. But Ricky needs to take hold of tempo of fight and control it. A lot of Martinez punch output is crude swings. He a effective fighter but not a fighter who i would use as my username.

 

So really the point is irrelevant to this fight :tong. I'd rather Rocky than have a picture of a bloke who got outboxed by Cintron :happy

Nah not irrelevant. Roman is like his countrymen, He likes to set the tone for the fight, Ricky needs to change his offense and mix up the pace of the fight. Roman's a plodder when coming forward and likes to dictate where the fights going. Ricky can take him out of his comfort zone by using his movement.

Is this the same Angulo that was ill all week with a cold but he went through with fight against a decent operator when he's not jumping through ropes :rofl. What alias are you btw? Have you wound up the Scottish contingent yet?

That's far comment. I'm not saying Ricky's gonna win. But the lad has a chance to cap a glorious night in Scottish Boxing. I hope he does it. I wanted Roman to do Cook and he did but i want Ricky to do Biz! Hard ask but as previously said Roman's nothing special.

 

I like Burns, handled himself very well during the Gomez build up. But for me unless massive improvement he's 48 hours from a steamrollering. Not anti scottish I hope and think Simspon will win :thumbsup
