That being said it was a bad day at the office. He has a tonne of heart as he showed against Cotto. I don't really like the guy, not at all really and I thought last night was a very close fight that could have gone either way. His hands are low and he gets caught far too often for someone who relies on reflexes and speed. I'd keep him well away from Hatton who would probably stop Paulie late on.
of course i would, one bad performance doesn't mean ****, floyd had bad performances so did cotto, didn't mean ****, malignaggi rises to the occasion the better the opponent the better he performs. also in this fight it didn't help his corner men telling him "this is going to be easy, he isn't even in your league, you are an elite he is b level" malignaggi abandoned the jab for most of the fight.
I dont think he underestimated him that much he looked in great shape. His head might not have been all there. But he does have a tendancy to get drawin into the other guy's fight. I think he does not have the reflex's or power to cause Hatton that many problems. The N'dou fight was a good fight. But the difference in level of fighter between N'dou and Hatton is massive.
Indeed he did but Cotto at 140 was not the fighter you see at 147, infact he is not much better if any better than Hatton at 140. He was weight drained to hell and did not show the skillset he had at 140. If that fight was at 147 Paulie would have gotten KTFO.
