Of course it has a level of importance, but truthfully I could not tell you which fighters Floyd, Ward, and Porter were stronger than. That’s not to say that they weren’t, especially Porter, but other attributes are way more standout to me.

I think that's a really good point. It depends how you use it.in a sport like boxing you need to use anything you can to your advantage and it definitely helps on the inside.

I think it might be one thing overlooked sometimes when guys move up in weight. Simply having a bigger stronger guy lean on you can wear you down. Didnt some attribute that as a factor in the SRR's loss to joey maxim?

By that video you can tell a huge difference in AJ's VS Fury's strength. Furys deadlift is near wheelchair consequences.

    Adrian broners Bench....... just lol.

'Strength' is vague. Power (maximum force generated in the quickest amount of time) is more useful for boxing than pure strength (maximal force generated without any specified time).

For me, what's more useful than both is muscle memory. There'll come a point where a boxer will not be able to grow any stronger or more powerful. But a boxer can continue improving his technical skills for far longer.

I didn’t think of it as underrated. It plays a big factor. Another athlete with Olympian type strength is Daniel Cormier.

People need to check out Beterbiev's Instagram page. Some of the exercises he does are hardcore and really strengthen his sinew fibres. No wonder he hits as hard as he does.

I am not convinced that power is entirely natural. It can be improved and the right exercises can certainly facilitate that.

lots of things are “more useful” for boxing, than anything you’ve mentioned.

IMO physical strength is occasionally overrated by the occasonal clueless übercasual watcher, & also occasionally underrated by the occasional wannabe boxing cognoscenti, but in general it tends to be seen for what it is, namely a somewhat useful tool that can significantly help out with certain styles &/or matchups.

Anything high impact that can target the core muscle groups used in power punching.

Check out Beterbiev's instagram page. Every exerice he does has a purpose; to keep his "power" muscles sharp and tuned up.

His forearms are massive, his chest is not that big, his bracial muscles are thick but his biceps are not huge. It's all targeted exercises.
