Johnson wasn't a light puncher, nor was he really known for his strength.

Near the outset of round 13, Harold made the iron chinned Pastrano dance a wild jig with a big right hand. Nobody else ever knocked out Hank Casey. (Johnson decked Casey three times, the last for the full count.) He decked Moore in their 1954 title fight, a clip most of us have seen on youtube. Wiped out Sattefield in two with a right uppercut. In December 1957, became the first man to drop competent 215 pound HW veteran Sid Peaks for the count since Elmer Ray had done it in February 1949. Harold was the only sub 180 pounder to ever stop Peaks. Temperament and counter punching style were more responsible for the lack of stoppages than any inherent deficiency in power. He's not particularly aggressive in going after either Pastrano or Moore when he has them hurt, and that's with the title on the line.

Ditto for Griffith. Nobody questioned Emile's power during his career, certainly not after what he did in Paret I & II, and of course it was Griff, not Bob Foster, who put Tiger on the floor for the first time. Even without the Paret tragedy, Emile would have never had the temperament to produce a high knockout percentage.

My favorite answers are typically Vito, Hamsho and Jake. Gene Fullmer said he generated his greatest outburst of power in his final win over Paret, an anomalous clean knockout. I think Gene clearly qualifies here.

He was a boxer first and foremost, but he could crack when the opportunity presented itself. He wasn't one to make many mistakes, which is perhaps why he took less chances in initiating those kinds of exchanges, hence leading to a less than stellar KO ratio. But then Ike Williams had a lower KO ratio than Hector Camacho. I assume you're not going to argue him as the harder puncher?

One shot. Lights out and later on:

Tex Cobb. Imposing, immovable and unshakeable, but without much power. His fight against Shavers was the bizarre case of a big puncher gassing while landing clean, while his opponent lacked the power to KO him. As a result, there were huge blows landed without any big KO.

Ernie Terrell. 6"6 and all muscle, but not a puncher by any standards. He was the "Octopus" who would wear down his opponents with bodyshots and a lot of holding.

Evander could crack, not to many people get stoppage victories over Mike Tyson.
