True, but not in respect to Carmen's power in the vein of trading blows with Lausse or Tiger.

Honestly, I struggle to think of a better example for this thread than Fenech. If he hurt you with every punch, no opponent would've seen it past 4-5 rounds.

Some would say that his problem was stamina rather than power. He looked Foreman-esque vs. Sam Peter... For about two rounds. Then he tired out totally and became his usual ineffectual self.

Personally, I think that McCline didn't have much power, but he was good at landing sneaky punches before he gassed. Many light punchers (including Ali) could look like major hitters sometimes, because they could land punches that their opponents didn't see at all.

Was gunna say Jake LaMotta and Winky Wright but they've likely been mentioned.

I knew Wright would come up, but I'm not sure how light punching he truly was. Well, clearly he was a pretty light puncher all things considered, but I think it's more that he never really sat down on his punches or swung. Had to keep that defense up.

Well I definitely agree on what you said about all things considered. At the top level though I would say that he wasn't a puncher, he was ramming them home vs Trinidad and Taylor for example. Earlier on his career like vs Steve Foster he was slamming them home and although they did get the stoppage they never seemed to have really great snap in them, more like a thudding thing which was a derivative of his strength than his power I always thought. I mean I don't want to discredit him, he was avoided for a reason, but I do't think one of those main reasons was ever his power. He was really strong physically though.
