Even though I've never seen any fight footage of him according to Jimmy Carter, who was the former lightweight champ he told me Al Gainer was incredible in both physical strength and ability.

Battling Siki was also very strong according to my Grandfather's barber, who seen him fight in Ohio back in the 20's.

Siki certainly passed the eye test. He looked like a bull.

I would expect to see this on a gym idiots compilation. Not from someone with supposedly a world class strength and conditioning coach. If Beterbiev had been on a solid strength training routine he would be squatting 500 lbs by now.

I don’t think that has anything to do with how strong he was or wasn’t — he’s coming off his first loss (to Jerry “The Bull” Martin) where Scott’s own bulling style didn’t pay off (as he was dropped twice) and he’s fighting a guy who is at this point an unknown who stands 5-7 ... makes sense to think he’d be better off boxing at arm’s length.
