Well, Haye has been training hard is in shape and is ready to go. Ruiz is a game and a dangerous opponent for anyone in the Heavyweight divsion.
If the Klits were fighting Ruiz then Haye would say they just fight old and over-the-peak guys, right? But when Haye is fighting Ruiz then he's "game" and "dangerous"
Haye does look a bit soft, but I'm thinking by the time fight night rolls around he will be fit and ready. Not to mention he can take the foot off the gas a bit since he is fighting a never that good fighter in Ruiz who is now old. Haye should spark him. (just as long as he doesn't get hugged to death)
Ruiz wasn't hugging at all against Serin in his last fight. Was a pretty clean fight from what I recall.
So this picture is about 2-3 weeks away from the bout?...he does look a bit soft around mid section, but im guessing he will have plenty of time to trim down. I don't think he will look as good as he did against Valuev, but what can you do.
This is not a bodybuilding contest. Nobody cares how Haye looks around the midsection. A chiseled six pack doesn't win fights. Against Ruiz all Haye has to concentrate on is not getting knocked out, which against a guy with zero punch like Ruiz shouldn't be a big task. Very easy UD12 win for Haye.
Ok, Haye's not in his usual amazing condition, but I think that top picture might be a bit deceptive - his head is one direction, body the other, makes the belly stick out and look flabby. But yeah, should be ripped by now though.
Ruiz is a more dangerous fight than Valuev! What we are looking at here is a multiple time Heavyweight Champion of the World.
:roflatsch No he isn't Ruiz has one legit proper KO this entire Decade. Ruiz has no power and no skills. None. Why on earth do you think Glass Jaw Roy Jones handpicked him for his Heavyweight fight? That should tell you all you need to know right there about Ruiz.
Do you have any idea about the effects of taking steroids? I mean any? Or are you just saying words that put down David Haye? Let's think about this logically. While mistakes have been made in the past, Haye and Booth have become quite astute when it comes to creating a fight strategy. While I have no inside knowledge, I suspect he's put on a bit of weight to counter the possibility that Ruiz will want to make it a bit of a hugging brawl. Nothing wrong with that. In any case, instead of looking at the photos, watch the videos of him during the same session. Have you seen a heavyweight hit the pads that fast in the last few years? Lightning quick. Haye will knock Ruiz out. No doubt about it.
He looks to be carrying excess fat in the picture, but we dont know how he'll look on the day of the fight. Hopefully he'll be 215 or 220, and not heavier. I hate it when these heavyweights just get bulky and people making excuses saying "he's going for pure power", "he's going for the KO". No, it's just laziness. At 218 pounds he hits hard enough and he's fast and fit. All the best punchers were most deadly when they were lean.
He clearly looks bigger...and softer. But nothing compared to most HW... ANyway, first time i'M excited for a Ruiz fight!
