Gatti v Ward 1 - Reasons: All out war, amazing to watch, both landing bombs, Round 9. Calzaghe v Lacy - Reasons: To show them a totally different style of fighting, and to highlight that physique is not what makes a fighter look special. Calzaghe's style is incredible to watch, work rate phenomenal and for an uneducated person looking at Lacy then Calzaghe's physique you would favour Lacy. Styles make fights. Ward v Kovalev - Reasons: To show them a less "exciting" but technical fight. And also to prove that even the uneducated fan could see that Kov was robbed and that decisions arent always fair.
PAC v Morales...to show that the goal is if you're hit - there is an opening. Morales counters and goes for all out attack with his great technique against an all time great. Ali v Patterson...a display of agility and aggression by Ali. To me it's my favourite fight for my goat (goat for what he did for boxing). Lamotta v Robinson 6...a display from Robinson using every angle & every punch. From Lamotta...pride and always willing to take the chance. Honourable mentions Tsyzu v Hatton - Humility & respect Douglas v Tyson - never underestimate an opponent Foreman v Moorer - Never underestimate a puncher Arguello v Pryor - Pryor...the best pressure fighter I've seen Taylor v Chavez - Taylor...Punches in bunches...Chavez...never stop trying. Mayweather v Gatti - Purely a boxing clinic from an atg Mayweather. Cool thread
If I actually wanted to get someone interested in boxing, I definitely wouldn't make them watch a full match. Full matches are incredibly boring by themselves, especially when the result is a foregone conclusion. I personally only watch old matches to learn about a fighter, never for entertainment. I'd show highlight reels of (preferably somewhat unproven) fighters, take the fighters they were most excited about, then try to get them excited about those fighters' upcoming matches.
Kalenga Dorticos Huck Glowacki Jones Lebedev I'd tell them this is the only weight division worth following.
