Im in favour of same day weigh ins to prevent weight bullying and because thats how it used to be. But to secure the event and safe weight cutting we need fighters having multiple weigh ins leading up to the fight so its controlled.
Add in random vada tests troughout the year for every active boxer and we have at least some healthier and fairer match ups

When I have more time to write a lengthy response I will, I feel strongly about same day weigh ins.

I’m in favor of same day weigh-ins, but only if they are extremely controlled. Unfortunately boxing is a very loosely organized sport and it would be impossible to get every outfit on the same page.

My boss’s neighbor is the head football coach at UTSA, and he was saying they do morning weigh-ins, and then an afternoon weigh-in, if the players lose too much weight they’re not even allowed to practice the next day.

Something like that would be great if it could actually be implemented, but I won’t hold my breath.

    Same day weigh ins.

it’s in boxings interest not to do this, how else are they going to create weight bully cash cows that feast on smaller opponents

Same day weigh ins with fight week weight checks are the best option.

I vote for nude weigh ins with no genitalia blocking signage on the scales.

    Same Day.

All arguments about weight bullying would be completely rendered moot.

Also sick of a WW contest being fought by SMW fighters, it's absolutely insane.

Moving up weight used to mean something, now it just means they cut less.

CBA going into more detail so sorry IB. I just think it's a none brainer.

Can you buy a beer the day before you turn 21? No cuz you're not 21. Who cares if are under the limit the day before. Fight day is what is supposed to matter.

Same day weigh-ins. If you know the risks and are happy to cut that much weight, no love lost. You own the risks. End of. However, their commercial managers/promoters have to be held to account and assume liability should excrement hit the fan. Legally speaking, there has to be something in existing contracts between fighters about insurance and money for health issues - well, for the big, money fighters at least!(?)

Like @MismatchHypejob says, almost (mainly the American + British) the entire boxing system now relies on obfuscating the public with young lads who can obviously cut & rehydrate a lot of weight in a short amount of time due to their natural distinct biology (+ help from PEDs). All the while fighting other fighters with a significant weight advantage and/or activity (+ other shenanigans e.g., gloves, ring size, hydration clauses, NDAs, etc.) The cat's out of the bag and it ain't going back in.

The sport's just mucked up now. I don't think there's any saving it from just being a way to legally milk money from a naive paying customer. How many records nowadays can we say, yeah, this guy is good, has no astericks and has fought and sought out the best competition available relative to his level? Not many I can think of really tbh.

The quicker these established big outfits go, the better, yeah I'm taking dazn, TR, pbc, etc. Get back to small outfits hashing out deals between them and see where we fall.

Thing is as well, today's boxers are ****ing entitled. Bivol can afford to sit out and not fight and doss around. The canelos and AJs can take easy gimme fights whilst getting 10s of millions in net pay. The whole sport is one big spiv run, lazy boy circus with rip off products. F you boxeo.

This is it. This blueprint can be adjusted / tweaked but in essence this is it.

"Why same day " you ask?
More then one reason but the main one is the principle of it. Those 2 who step into the ring to fight for the 147lbs belt should be ...guess...
    147 max !.

    Same day weigh ins.

I hear people against this idea bring up the argument that more fighters will end up in a dehydrated state come fight night and end up permanently injured. Yeah, probably. At first. Then when they realise they aren't able to get the same sort of benefit from weight cutting as they used to get with twenty four hour rehydration periods we'll start to get fighters competing in their actual weight classes. It's a necessary evil, to weed out the idiots who think they can still get away with massive weight cuts and end up getting their shrunken asses whupped. And for those who still insist on fighting below their natural weight class, too bad. Time to move up fatty.
